Hair and pH
Does anyone care for their hair based on the pH levels of products? I'm new to the concept. I was just looking for others' experiences.

Yes, I do. That is why I purchase products that know have the ph levels I need. I test the products with my ph strips when I decide to try something new.

Has it made a noticeable difference in your hair since you started doing this?
How so?

I don't vary too much from my staple products. Also most of my products have aloe as one of the first 5 ingredients. I also use aloe in my hair spritz. My hair is more moisturized and stays moisturized longer, softer, less frizz, less breakage.

All products (if manufactured by someone who knows what they are doing) are the correct pH for hair 4-6 (shampoo may be higher, up to 7--except CP shampoo bars which are 9-10). Just pick products which you hair likes and that keep it moisturized and not dry it out. If you hair likes aloe, then pick products that have that.
When you use products with the pH that our hair likes, it will be softer, stay moisturized longer and have shine/sheen. It will just look and feel its best!
ETA: edit the pH to reflect more correct (wider) range

So then why do some "experts" recommend testing your products to find out their pH?
I tested some of my products last night and most of them came out to 6.0.

^^LOL
I don't know. People found the pH thing and brought it to masses of people who do not know how products are manufactured. The people then seemed like they knew SO MUCH, but really, that's how products are formulated (at least if you are a good formulator).
pH of 6 is not outside of the range for hair. Optimal pH for hair products is 4-6
ETA: What products?

Ok.
I do notice though, that when the pH of a rinse out product is too low in the low 4 range, my hair doesn't like that. It feels rough and dry. My hair likes to stay close to 5 than 4 or 6. In shampoos 5-6 my hair likes (that's not CP shampoo bars, but my hair likes CP shampoo bars as well).

Actually the litmus strips I used didn't have a wide range of pH levels on the chart. So I bought a different brand and will retest. It's a new kick for me. When I'm on a kick I get obsessed. Even if it's totally unnecessary. lol

Exactly what she said.. I dont feel I need to go so far as to test each product I use. I just started using the aloe juice over everything and I love it. I also use it to help emulsify and distribute my leave in (instead of water)
but applying my leave in on wet hair (something I started right before using aloe) made a huge difference anyway.. It could just be the application. Either way it works, I love it and im not questioning it lol
