Yarn braids

I did yarn braids before but when I took that down I had a knot with linty stuff in it, how can I combat it?

You can't really. It's build up that has occurred from not being able to comb/detangle. Just gently comb/fingercomb it out

I find that the buildup comes from the products that you are using while your hair is braided

I only add products I'm not rinsing out to my hair well below the braid knot. Anything added above the knot or to my scalp gets rinsed out THOROUGHLY!
When removing the braids I wash and condition my hair (to dissolve as much gunk as possible and add slip) before undoing them and finger detangle with coconut oil as soon as the braid is out. I keep the hair sectioned then wash again. It normally takes me about 2 days to take them all out, so I'm not overwashing. It's one HECK of a tough task.

I've got yarn braids in at the moment and I'm upset that I'm already bored with them (it's only been 9almost0 3 weeks!). I'm not looking forward to takedown, but I'm eager to play in my hair again, so might go 4 weeks instead of the planned 6. Urgh!
