Check out my New & Improved Blog

My blog is called "Spiraled" You can visit it here. I've had a blog of the same name using blogger as a platform for around 5 months, but I recently switched to Wordpress. The purpose of my blog, originally, was to document my transition to natural hair. Since I've big chopped, however, I'm looking to take my blog in different directions. I'm still documenting my journey, this time as a natural, but now I'm also including product reviews, jewelry/product/clothing hauls (I'm a huge fan of thrifting and finding cute items on a budget), my health & wellness journey (I used to be morbidly obese for most of my life, but was successfully able to lose over 100lbs without surgery), poetry and creative writings, plus whatever else comes to my mind. So check me out! I think you'll enjoy it almost as much as I enjoy writing it

sounds great & congrats on your weightloss! :occasion7:

Thank you, hippychic! Still have some pounds to lose, but it's been exciting watching my body transform over the years, though

Let me be honest ... Some people just don't look so great in short hair. You happen to have the perfect head shape for it though :) You and your hair look very pretty. And wow, you have a LOT of blog entries so far. Good for you.

Aww, thank you Korkscrew. That's so nice of you to say and it means a lot to me. I've never had hair this short and I was so worried I wouldn't look right with it. I even bought several scarves with the intent of hiding my chop until I gained some length! Fortunately I've had a lot of support from friends and family and that gave me the courage to sport my twa with my head held high, with or without earrings, lol.

P.S. wow, I guess I do have a lot of entries for having my blog less than a year, lol. I love writing. I've kept a journal since I was a preteen. Also I had a blog that was strictly devoted to creative writing for over a year but I decided to consolidate the two blogs together

Muffin, I'm glad to hear you won't be using those scarves :D

I used to have a super-short cut too (also mohawks, blohawks and all kinds of styles, colors and assorted craziness). But looking back, I think I liked my super-short more than any other style. So liberating! It's so great that you're being supported. Bet you'll have fun shopping for earrings :) Your new style will accentuate your facial features too. I'm sitting here feeling a little envious of you because (I assume) you'll have a fairly easy time caring for your hair. Some days I crave short hair again.

Have you considered, or are you already, writing for a living?

Yes, it is much easier to care for my hair now that it's short. I'll definitely miss that as it grows longer. I've bought a couple of pairs of cute earrings since I chopped. They really help dress up a short 'do. It's funny that you crave short hair at times because my hair wants to be your hair's length right now , lol. I love my cut and I think it's cute and fun, but I'm a long-haired girl at heart. Guess the grass is always greener on the other side, ;-)
Your hair is gorgeous, btw. It's so dark and beautifully curly

I used to want to write for a living, but I never really knew how to go about it. I could never find a niche in the various writing fields out there that I felt I could excel at or that there was a demand for. I just write for fun. I mostly like creative writing, blogging, and writing informative articles on topics I'm interested in.

What's cool is that it's like you just hit a "reset" button by cutting it, so that you're starting with a "fresh batch" of healthy hair that you can offer TLC so that it grows out really healthy and beautiful! Or, did you already have healthy hair before you cut it? In my case I've abused my hair at times so it's definitely not my personal best right now and I suspect one fine day I'm going to follow in your short-haired footsteps and go really short :)

Yes to the grass being greener. I actually cut my hair about three weeks ago so that the longest part is now just below my shoulders. It felt good to cut it.

That's so sweet of you :D I feel the same way about your hair. I hope you'll post pics as it grows out ;-)

Well it's great that you've found such a powerful creative outlet. Hope you and your hair have a lovely evening :flower:

I had what I considered to be healthy relaxed hair. I took very good care of it, and even though it looked healthy it wouldn't budge past the top of BSL, no matter what I did. Eventually I became disenchanted with it and had it cut into an assymetrical bob. Although I went super short I still continued to relax for around a year after this, but it just wasn't the same. I didn't look forward to it and it seemed like I only relaxed out of routine. Then April of this year I I woke up and figured out I didn't want to relax my hair anymore, or even wear my hair straight, for that matter! I wanted a change. So I started doing a lot of curl sets, and people loved it, including myself. But after a few months of that I grew tired of fussing with my hair, and that brings us to how my hair is today .

I think you're long hair is beautiful, but I'm sure it will look equally as good with short hair. What matters most is that you're wearing your hair the way YOU like it. I had the whole world against me when I told people I wanted to chop. I listened to them for a while, but I was miserable. When I cut my hair I felt so free, even though it was a bit scary anticipating what others may say. Turns out most of those people who told me not to cut my hair loved my cut once they saw it. If you feel good about it, it will show. If you decide to cut your hair, I'd love to see pics

First, thanks for the compliments! I will post short hair pics when that day arrives. Sounds like it took guts to do the big chop, considering not everyone was behind you at first. Sometimes I think just being women brings pressure for us to have long hair. Honestly, it doesn't surprise me that those naysayers actually liked your cut. People are just scared of change imo, often w/out needing to be. I imagine you have and will continue to inspire other curlies to be brave like you and take the natural route.

Well looks like you've freed yourself from roller sets (oh the irony of curling hair that already has a natural curl pattern - I've done that too ;) ).

Anyway, it was fun chatting with you :D
