Bunning until....

I wanted to start a bunning challenge for people who wanted to bun for different amounts of time. For example, I want to bun for 1 year. If a person wants to bun for 1 month or 2 months or however long they can post here.

Here is my goal and regimen:

I want to bun for 1 year (Oct 2012- Nov. 2013)
1. Wash and Deep condition once a week
2. bun during the day and french braid at night
3 henna once a month

I will bun every day.

Anyone want to join me?

my hair can't take long periods of bunning. i tried it before. while i retained length for a while, i ended up getting breakage too. i realized what my issues were after the fact.

I would think the constant bunning might put stress on your edges. I know I love my headbands but I started not using them as much when I noticed a little breakage at temple.

Sorry your hair resulted in breakage.

I only use satin scrunchies and my goal is not to have a tight bun. the length of my hair is separated into 3-4 twist which are then wrapped and pinned with the "v" shaped pins. I use a shea butter and a scarf to hold down the frizz.

I would join this, cause i finally got my hair to hold a bun. But i have the ugliest hair line. So i try not to show that.

Ooooh I'll join. I have two satin scrunchies that I'm using now. I probably won't be bunning for a whole year though.

So are we going to be checking in or something? What's the rules?

The rules are whatever you set for yourself. We will post our rules for all to see so that we can kinda get and idea what others are doing. Then we can post a length check, thickness check, etc. monthly. I think we can learn from one another different techniques to retaining length, moisture, combating the frizz, etc. The start date will be before the end of October. End date is your choice but you must post that end date and stick to it. Mine is already posted.

Girl yes. My ED relapse luckily left my length alone but my edges are so fuzzy and poofy from where they're growing back in and I don't like gel. Not cute. Lol

Yess, ha my hairline just grows in a little jacked. Especially my neck, I'm just like...why? Cause i look so cute in a high bun but that hairline is just mean. Lol sucks. Can't fix it. :/

So far so good for me. The challenge is not really hard at this point. This is a pic of the bun Im wearing this week. It is a high twist bun.

Im so excited!! Its Halloween and also if you have not already started it is the official start of the Bunning Until... challenge. Today Im going to wear a low donut bun without the donut/sock insert.

I'm excited tooo! I've never done this so it'll be quite the challenge for me. But I'm gonna buy some cute accessories and throw in some twists and braids and make it worth while. So excited! I'll take a picture of mine today too to kick it off.

Ill try to bun every day for a year also. I'm still on the fence about trying henna because I happen to really love my hair color (its very black). I can actually sleep on the bun w/o it leading to frizz so I wont need to braid at night. I will probably french braid on wash day to stretch it out for bunning during the week. I'm so tempted to try cassia though, and once a month doesn't sound too time consuming either ( mulling it over).

Okay. *takes breath* I'm in.

I'll bun everyday starting today (in fact I wore a bun today already!) until next halloween. My BFF's getting married next halloween and I want to straighten my hair for it. It's just above BSB now and hopefully it'll be around midback...? Here's to hoping. But anyway:

1) Trimming hair to remove any dead ends on stretched hair tonight.
2) Weekly wash/detangle/deep conditioning/moisturizing (probably every Sunday so I stay on track)
3) Spray hair with oil mix every couple days between hair washes before I go to bed.
4) *Moisturize my back and front edges every night. I want to get them healthier because they're the onnnly part of my hair that looks truly nappy (as in dry and knotted) and I want them as thick and full as the rest of my hair. So I'm going to give them the TLC they obviously need.
5) Tie satin scarf around bun and put satin "granny cap" over it at night. But I sleep wild so I be lucky if it's up there in the morning (satin pillowcases are on my christmas list).

Anddd yeah. That makes my dates October 31, 2012- October 30, 2013 (so not QUITE a full year. I know ya'll gon let me have that one day though. Lol)

Also, I am so sorry at how LONG this is.

Edit: Also, I plan on keeping the same bun in all week.

My regular curly bun today. I'll take it out on wash day sunday. I feel like I'm gonna wind up doing bun of the week pics. Lol. I get really restless with updos so trying new things will help tremendously.

And I know ya'll ain't gon let me talk ya'll to death by myself up here now that I'm all excited. Ahaha. :P
