Mmm, well I don't know anything about the curlbox or what was in it except for what was on youtube and twitter. But anyway, of course people are going to fall into the hype. $40 is a lot of money. Natural hair care industry is booming and people are taking advantage of it. (If that's the case with the curlbox)

Hey, I tweet about my hair journey too along with other things

SO much to say about all of it....

First off, people need to be VERY careful about what type of information they share about themselves. Period.

Secondly, as a BUSINESS person, you definitely need to think about sharing personal information about your foolish shenanigans, DUIs, un-"safe" sex, and other such...foolishness. If you want to get the message out, you can do it, without tellin' all your business that people can, and WILL use against you, in the "court of commerce" (you sellin, they buyin'...or not).

"I don't care what y'all think about me.." Okay, heard that one before. When folks start droppin' off, and you ain't sendin' as many boxes out, I'll bet you'll care a bit more.

Finally, don't EVER put no "African Pride" anything in a "box", and try to sell it to me.

See, this is why I don't do those box subscriptions - I'm a PJ and I probably have already tried what you're sendin' out this month, next month...and the rest of the months after. If I got a box, with some "African Pride" products inside, I would send the box...back, along with a request to have a credit on my Visa. Don't' send me nuthin' I can get at the hood beauty supply, and then inflate the price and make me think it's a deal. No sis.

LOL at "African Pride Products" for serious????

I was wondering about this curlbox/kit thing. Seemed very popular, but I didn't bite because I've been cured from the affliction of PJism!

I feel like these business women are not reading the forums. If anything it should inform you of how the lasting companies act versus the few months to a year companies--and why they don't last. I DO NOT GET IT.

I co-sign...I'm a curlBOX subscriber...I was contemplating canceling my subscription either NOW or get my last box which will be DEC. But...I refuse to take ah chance of getting another local BSS or Sally's beauty products box...I cxld my subscription. That African Pride from the Oct box and the ORS Dry Shampoo from the Sept box have been nothing short of Insulting. When I think of it, most of the products I don't care for and have given away to family members. So i'm paying to give away stuff...unheard of! This was supposed to be a door way for the masses to try different products that supposedly aren't at arms reach, that are moisturizing and nourishing for curly tresses...but we're getting stuff from the local BSS that 's drying, making hair feel like hay. I wouldn't even go into a BSS and give a thought to purchase these products, don't care how cheap it is. I definitely DONT NEED to pay CurlBOX to send it to me either. It is shameful. Definitely cxld from the HYPE!

I didn't even know they were getting the stuff from the local bss. I thought they were doing mid-high end natural products in their boxes. WOW that's a shame. I swear if I got some ORS I would personally fly that box back and demand a refund. haha that's just so laughable. Isn't that pack a dollar + some change at the local bss?
African Pride. LMFAO!!!

I read the first 12 and last few pages of thread. I don't see why people are complaining about products not being for their hair properties or for the styles they like. Isn't that the risk of a blind box? I know my hair is a big product and ingredients snob so I would never subscribe. Also why would people want Twisted Sista or Soft-N-Free you can easily buy cheap at any Walgreens? I thought this was products that are either hard to get or sample sizes of on the ground expensive stuff like MJ and CD.

Folks, if you are in business, please exercise the 24hour rule! That thread is wrong on way too many levels. This Curlbox woman is in business, but she is no business woman. There should NEVER be anything negative said by an owner that a customer can circle back and quote....she needs to tighten up and super quick. People threatening to go to the BBB is serious and can severly damage her reputation with major vendors.

SMH, too bad, her lack of customer service and disturbing arrogance will keep this pj from being a customer.

Maybe I stopped reading too soon but cliff notes someone?

whats the differences between boxes?

Oh and I will never subscribe to anything offering me products monthly. I'm an OG Product Junkie, chances are Ive tried it or looked at it and didnt want to try it , No shade!

It is what it is
She had the nerve to compare her business to Harvard. Lol

This natural product sample subscription service thing is not something I've been down with personally but I think the concept has good potential if executed correctly. That thread almost gad me wanting to try curlkit. But finally, people have caught on to the foolishness. African pride and ORS product samples for $40? That is some straight up robbery.lmao I can't believe the audacity. And that's no shade to those products, but you wanna put your company's exclusivity on front street and on par with Harvard but you're serving me beauty supply store products....lmao. But really the joke is on the consumer. Too bad.

I didn't no wAt nuttn bout no boxes but wAt I don't get is if she been sending crap for the past 2-3 months and then str8 go ham on the consumers like my crap don't stank why are people complaining in one breath then in the next say im gonna keep giving her 40 till dec to see wAt other crap samples she gonna give me?
Ok I read the whole thread.

Who came first? Curlkit or Curlbox?

Again, not my cup of tea. When a thread was started here I dont remember seeing a lot of "interest" in getting a monthly subscription for products.

Samples dont do a thing for my head. Its a cute concept though but not for me. I guess new naturals or naturals who want to try products a$20 a month isn't a bad option but to each his own

We have seen a lot of companies stab themselves in the toe. Same scenario , different vendor.

Folks will learn.

Whoa! I was done after seeing those tweets.

I'm not a fan of natural hair subscriptions boxes because what am I supposed to test with a 2oz sample? That's not enough product for a QUARTER of my head!

And those tweets are straight up rude! Show a little respect for you customers! After all, we're the ones actually BUYING your product! And telling other people to BUY your product. With real money too. Smh. Piss off your base, that's a great business model...

I can't wait for the apology when people start canceling left and right.

To each his own...some don't like samples, some do.... I think the "curlkit" concept is great. Testing out a bunch of different products that may otherwise go unnoticed or be skipped over or vice versa which ultimately saves plenty money for plenty folk.

Bad customer service is unacceptable all the around.

The CurlKIT/CurlBOX concept isn't only "samples". I've received full size items...even 2 full size items along w/ other sample size products, coupons and informative hair care/product info per box. Let's not let that be the focus. The focus is the QUALITY of product along w/ customer service. I get the feeling of looking down on it "simply because YOU WOULDN'T do it"...thats fine also.I agree w/ @chicagokinks. The concept is great, that's why I delved in...the focus is the nonsence that's going on with it which is ah "whole nother animal" that can come from ANY company vying for business. As with most decisions in Life...I've experienced CB...I enjoyed certain aspects of it...but I'm done. That's it...;0)

Nobody should be able to make anybody feel "looked down upon" over whether or not they want to subscribe to a box. It's not that deep. For those just startin' in the product game, subscription boxes are great. But for most hard-core PJs, not so much so.

the concept for me is cute however its been noted that the majority of the items received are sample sizes.

Yes one or two full size items are available but the boxes are made up of smaller sizes so the consumer can test new items out.

For me that doesnt appeal to me, nor does the monthly subscription.

The customer service isnt even an issue for me because it seems there is another company doing the same thing as curlbox . curlkit is handling business WAY better than curlbox ( reading the comments) Why deal with a bad business owner when someone else is doing the same thing for the same amount of money.

Most comments on this thread I think have said the concept is cute

Mrscombo , not trying to get at you at you but it seems as if both of the boxes most of the times send more samples, than versus a full size.

I also know that it is hard to include a lot of these smaller based companies with sample sizes that happen to be quality products AND keep it at $20 a month.

A thread popped up over here, cute concept and kept it moving. Not my thing.

I would be hella pissed to receive pink oil in a monthly subscription. I can go to the BSS for it , if i wanted it.

I think there should be a list of items available monthly and you click what you want to be in your box.
