2013 Hair Challenges? Stick 2 it challenge!

Like Tree9Likes

Welcome to all the new folks. I have been so busy with work I haven't had time to update. I have been keeping my regimen the same but I think I must clarify because i'm getting a lot of buildup from my setting lotion and li. So i'm going to use a clarifying poo once a month or every six Weeks. I am using redken curvaceous shampoo that I already have. Hopefully this will help because I have seen steady growth since I started. I think i'm officially shoulder length. I have been bunning in one way or another & its done me well.

I hope you're all having success. Have you made any changes? Noticed any growth? Please share.

So it's been 3 months and I think I'm getting the hang of it. I've actually been doing hot oil treatments with Extra Virgin Olive Oil every week before shampooing with Shea Moisture's African Black Soap shampoo. So far I'm loving the hot oil treatments and the shampoo isn't too harsh for my hair and my scalp is very clean (I have some really bad dandruff). I've also been keeping my hair in braids and twists. I blow dry my hair on a cool setting once a month to stretch it out. My hair behaves better when its stretched and I am at CBL (collar bone length). I'm looking forward to seeing more growth and the health of my hair and scalp has improved. I still plan to go see Dr. Lisa Akbari for further assistance with my scalp since the dandruff comes back within a week.

Hmm I was debating on whether or not I should incorporate acv rinses into my regimen or not but didn't because I'm still researching the benefits.

When I read one of the post it described me to a T.
Change products and don't stick to a routine. Well I want to retain length and hair for my daughter and I so I'm down.

I'm just not sure of the rules.

I've made these challenges for myself:

Finger DETANGLING: no detangling with tools. Fingers only. My hair is same length but I get those golf ball size if shed/dead hairs when using tools. Plus I'm trying to minimize breakage.

SIMPLE PROTECTIVE STYLE:
I'm not one to do intricate hairstyles. I don't like my hair stretched looks too thin. I don't like to bun, it'd too coily.
So I'm going to do low Bantu knot outs via Etcblogmag tutorial, fro days with max shrinkage, mini twists via Naptural85, rod sets and reg twists. Plan for the whole summer June-Aug nothing but mini twists.

ELIMINATE TOO MANY PRODUCTS:
I'm gonna use up all or give away the products I have. Going to re-up on my staples. Going to cancel Curlbox. Enjoyed it while it lasted, but too many products in my box- cardboard that is. Plus I'm going to WNHS next month and gonna buy lines I've been wanting to try for the longest. Looking for stylers-gels and creams only though. And gonna curb my product junkyism.

Goals: length retention. Breakage reduction. Save money. Simple styling.

So I'm going to straighten my hair today for a length check. I broke down & got some new products just to moisturize better.
I'm still doing the same process.
Products I purchased:
Naturally silk elements leave in
As I Am smoothing gel
Shea moisture gold label conditioner

edit: since its going to rain tomorrow I decided to stick with curlformers

Stuck to bunning for about 6-7 months, but now I've been wearing two flat twists into a low bun, and I can say my hair is growing steadily from collarbone to apl ! *happy dance*
