Where to purchase non-stinky shea butter....?

i have shea butter its 100% and dark yellow and it does my hair and skin so good, but it STANKS. like the smell is very heavy and it doesnt go away. the smell is so rancid it even makes my head hurt. i tried to mix heavily scented oils in it but the smell still prevailed. i was going to toss it but it does wonders for my twist outs.

does your shea butter also smell horrible? if not where do you purchase it? please, i would like to know!
thanks

I purchase my Shea Butter from Coastal Scents. Mine is the white in-refined. I never used the yellow so I can't compare the smell. Maybe you should try the white.

I was going to say Coastal Scents too. Mine has a light nutty smell. But definitely doesn't stink.

agreed with everyone above, try white.. it will still have a scent but not strong and mine covers with fragrance. I get it from CamdenGrey.com and I found an ebay seller with a decent quality named "Humbleheadquarters"

You can get scentless Shea Butter from Wholefoods, however by this point it has been refined so much that a lot of the nutrients have been removed, but it still works well as a sealant.

Alternatively why not try whipping your current shea butter? I usually do so with coconut oil and some essential oils

I have a yellow one that I purchased from a local beauty supply store and it smells like cigarette ashes. I've purchased the ivory/white one from Wholesale Supplies Plus and you can get a sampler of it to see if you like refined, unrefined, etc., (you pay for it but you get to try different butters).

I know they say the unrefined products are the best because they have more nutrients and have not been bleached... So, it may be an issue of what you are looking for in your product (vitamin/nutrient-wise)also.

I think they all have an odor, but I usually buy the Nasabb.com Shea butter and I think it does kinda smell like chocolate, in the way that cocoa butter does, so not sure if this will help, but it's one of the best Shea butters on the market if it matters any other way.

Good luck!
