I'm a 4ab and I'm thinking of getting a fade. Anyone grow out a fade before? I think it would help with the fact that the back seems to grow way faster than front (also back is 4a whereas front is 4b). How did you jazz it up for special occasions? I need ideas.

This is the style I want to get:

Attached is a pic of my hair which I believed is air dryed w/o product (taken a while back). Obviously, not combed/detangled! lol!

i've had a fade. that pic by op doesn't look like a fade to me. it looks like a twa. my fade was shorter, almost to my scalp.

yes, i love the cut in the op's pic. even if your hair grows uneven, it can still end up uneven after a cut if your hair grows faster in certain areas.

It doesn't look like a fade to me either. My brothers use to get fades when they were younger. The sides are closely cropped, with more hair on top.
Curly and PROUD!!!

My hair has a mix of low/med/high porosity, and it's medium textured (some are still fine, though!)

I was not born here, so I don't know the proper terms for things. I though the link I posted was a fade. I thought the closely cropped cuts was a ceaser, lol. Anyway, I want my hair overall to be a lot shorter with the back being super short.

I'm getting ready to go to the barber now, and I'll post pics if it doesn't look horrible.
research sunshinelovespeace on youtube. she rocks short hair all the time.

I ended up being late for my appointment and since Saturday is the busiest day for salons/barbers, they couldn't fit me in the same day. I wanted my hair to be cut that day, so I went to Walmart, bought clippers and went to down. Umm, it would have turned out better if I went to a professional. I now have 1 cm/0.5 inch of relatively even cropped hair.

It's so weird seeing my natural colour. I don't think I've had my hair my natural colour in a decade. Also, my hair is super soft. My hair was super soft as a CGer, but CG on virgin hair that's never been coloured or had heat, is softness to the power of 10,000!

Pic attached. Apologies for ghetto ass cell phone. The pic was take w/in minutes of cut. I've cut my hair before, but always down to 2"/3". It will be cool learning how to deal with my hair at this length.
