Pregnancy and Hair

Hey everyone, this may just be venting a bit but I really would like to hear the experiences of others.

All I heard (regarding hair) when I became pregnant (this is my first) is that "your hair is going to grow so long and get so thick" ...you know the hype because your hair isn't shedding... and that I'd have postpartum shedding instead so enjoy it. Welllll that is NOT what has happened to me. First, my hair has changed drastically, while I hadn't changed my regimen. My hair is drier and more fragile so of course i'm way more careful (as in anal). I have minimal breakage, but more single strand knots then usual. My curls are so different, it's like someone came along and put a different head of hair on my head. I don't know it at all anymore, smh. (I'm talking holy grails have even failed me now, sigh) In my first few months (about months 2-5) I shed enough hair to make several wigs. Thankfully that has stopped. I generally grow the average half inch per month, in 7 months of being pregnant my hair has grown barely 1-2 inches. I've been natural 3 years Dec 1, and had it down to a science. (Key word = had, lol). Loose buns and mini twists have been my friend.

I drink tons of water, prenatal vitamins, eat healthy, upped my deep conditioning and protein, researched and researched some more. It's like my hair just rebels against whatever I've tried.

Has anyone else ever had issues like this?? Did your hair change back or stay that way?

All in all, it's just hair, and if it's the price I have to pay for this little boy due in a few months, then I can take it. I'm just frustrated. I'm going to get a trim soon, at least an inch. We'll see I guess.

Thanks for reading Hope everyone is having an awesome day!!
Blessings to you and your baby boy!

You're not alone! My hair used to grow pretty fast but in the whole 7 months of being pregnant I think I've only had about 2 or 3 inches of growth :/ My curls/coils have gotten way tighter, which lead to a lot of tangles. My hair does seem thicker but it was already pretty thick so now detangling is such a task, my denman is useless in my new hair. My hair was always picky but now Yes to Carrots is the only product that works. Oils are a no go.

I'm tired of fighting my hair, I just let Sassy do her thing now lol
