Water only washing

Okay, sounds pretty disgusting, but I tried it today and it felt good!
So our scalp creates sebum that can be used to moisturize our hair. So under warm hot water, you massage and scritch your hair to loosen your scalp oils and apply it to the rest of your hair and after a few weeks of doing this depending on the rate that your scalp achieves full coverage you basically have your own natural hair product made by your own scalp!
Any hair texture can do this and It's a great substitute for this product junkies.
I used acv to clean my scalp as it doesn't disturb the sebum for today.but for the following days I'll be using close to hot water for sebum coverage.
This woman has a whole list of videos on the subject and you can can search water washing natural hair to find more videos. Also your hair can still be styled such as twists or loose hair. I did twists and added shea butter (until I get full coverage I will be using only oil on my ends because they're dry ) and it felt fluffy and soft.. Hair dried in less time too ! Also I had definition without the crunchy film I feel when I usually use commercial product.

Give it a try!

Aaaaages ago (like, back in secondary school) a girl in my class (with straight hair) did something similar. She said that if you don't wash your hair then your hair cleanses itself or something, and she wanted to try it out so she didn't wash her hair for a couple of months (I THINK she may have wet it with water a few times though, but I'm honestly not sure).

I remember her hair looking okay for a bit (like a couple of weeks), but then it started looking pretty awful lol. Though, like I said, I'm not sure if she actually water-washed it or just strictly didn't wash it at all (I think the latter)

I saw a YT clip from Kathy Lee and Hoda discussing a woman who did water washing only. Kathy lee dogged her so bad and starting talking about how she probably stinks. Then Hoda mentions she doesn't wash her hair every day and then KL backed off some saying everyone's hair is different.
I have done water rinses on my hair after working out but I wouldn't try it on a regular basis because my scalp has let me know several times in a big way that shampoo is not optional for me. And not only that but I have to use shampoos that have specific ingredients like teatree or peppermint or shikaikai or it won't be pretty.

Maybe different things work for different people but I thought this was interesting. Wonder what hair looks like when cowashed...

@BotticelliBrit I shared a house with a guy who water washed. His hair was looked, smelled and felt fine. He definitely didn't scratch his scalp when washing. He let his curly hair grow to mid-back length before cutting it all off.

On the other hand people who don't wash their hair have a period after 6 weeks were their hair is nasty for about 2 months. I remember this from watching a program when I was about 10.
