Is this curl pattern 4b?

I am very aware that curl pattern does not matter so much as properties. This is not a question for my own hair, but me and my friend were having a childish conversation about what kind of curl pattern he has. I said he has 3a and my friend said 4b. Sorry if this is in the wrong category but since everyone here has hairtype 4 you guys would know better, I just want to know if I'm blind or not
It's 3-something

He looks like a dry, undefined 3b (maybe some 3c) to me. Definitely not 4b.
