Salon Horror Story!

I just felt the need to rant about this & I wanted to hear other people's horror stories if you chose to share them!

So yesterday I went to go get Senegalese twists at this african braiding place that my stepmom goes to. I went to this same place last year & they braided my hair very tight, so this time I knew better and asked them to not braid as tight. These were my exact words "I don't want the braids really tight." & the lady said ok so she heard what I said. The minute she started braiding I knew it was going to be way too tight. And when she was parting my hair she was literally ripping it apart, it wasn't that tangled when I went through it that morning. Also they took a comb to just a random part of my hair (didn't even part it a bit) and started ripping away at my roots, I guess to detangle it some more (they did the same thing last year too). Lastly I don't know if any other places do this method but to keep the twists from unraveling they dip the ends in boiling hot water. Welll my sister didn't have this issue but the lady held my head down too long (I sort of feel like she wasn't paying attention because she was talking to another lady that was behind her doing another person's hair) & the steam came up to my scalp and when I say it felt like there were 2 or 3 hot combs pressed to scalp I'm not kidding. Tbh I didn't even know what she was doing until I started seeing steam so I didn't know if I should pick my head up, what if I burn her because she was behind me. I just felt like there should've been more/better communication between us. I started crying it was so painful. When I called my grandma to tell her about everything she asked my stepmom to check my scalp to see if it was irritated or red she noticed that not only the edges were extremely tight (which my mom noticed too) but basically my entire head was twisted so tight my scalp was red all over. Also when they were snipping away at the loose pieces, they were cutting at places that my hair was at and at times I felt my scalp being pulled like hair was coming out (my sister experienced this too). Im just really scared if those snips will affect the health/look of my hair. I just felt that place didn't care at all about how they were handling my hair, was unnecessarily rough with it, and didn't listen to anything I said.

Sorry if I sound complainy or spoiled but I'm just worried about how my hair will be once I take them down. I've gotten so far with my hair and I felt like I was finally in a place where it's actually healthy and will start growing and then this comes and I don't know what the end results will be

I no longer go to salons for much the same reason. Me tellng a stylist I don't want them doing something to my hair and them agreeing then ignoring me and doing it any way. You ate not whiney. You are a paying. I would have reminded her one more time about the tightness and if she continued I would have left. The hot water thing is common but she should have been paying attention. I lope you too photos of your scalp. I would go back and ask for a refund. If they say no I would tell them I will posting the photos and a review of their salon on every natural hair and business forum I can. I had had braid extensions maybe two or three times and each time I had a headache the first day. If by day two doesn't loosen know you paid a lot but if it's super tight I would take it out because the longer the pullng the better chance of breakage especially edges.
Yes, it's real. No, you can't touch it.
