Afraid of looking weird after big chop.

I'm 15 and I really want to learn to embrace my natural type 4 hair.
I've done some research on it, and people look so beautiful with curls. So I want to chop off my heat damaged hair into tapered cut. I'm kind of afraid that I would look bad with really short hair. My hair is majority 4b, 4a or 3c in the back.

That's what i thought at first to before i cut mine but then i remembered that it will always grow back but if the length is what is mainly bothering you I'd go with long term transitioning before cutting it so that you have more hair to work with i transitioned two years before i cut any hair off and when i did i decided to do a pixie cut with long bangs just to find that my natural hair started growing like crazy after the relaxed was gone. But back on track when you big chop it's very important to have a lot of self confidence and remember why you wanted to go natural in the first place it may seem hard at first especially since you're in high school and other kids like to act crazy and i can tell you you have to have some tough skin because some people can be over opinionated you do what's best for you and your hair and don't listen to anything negative and try to keep as many supportive people around as you can and rock your hair however you want to.

I wouldn't be worried about how it looks so much as people touching it because i get that a lot since people aren't used to seeing black hair in it's natural state and short hair can be a challenge at first but it give you the opportunity to find out what works best for your hair than jump on a hair product bandwagon later and you end up regretting it later but i guess that's why it's called a journey because it's just insane how our hair changes almost on a day to day basis but I'd just say learn to embrace the surprises your hair has to give.

If you really want the cut that badly you should do it. Most of us it took years to get the point of being done wearing straight hair because we're afraid of what other people might think. Are you hurting anybody? no. Especially people who don't pay your bills. Screw them. Maybe you can get one of those programs to see the cut on your face and how YOU like it on you. I like short hair but the downside can be the frequent cuts to keep the shape if you decide to stay short. And it can be a pain while growing out short hair because of the awkward stage and if the shape of the cuts doesn't lend itself to growing out without looking weird..The downside of a long transition is that it's a pain dealing with two texture. I hated it and bc'ed four monhs post.
Yes, it's real. No, you can't touch it.
