Do any of the sites you guys are ordering the henna or cassia from take orders by phone?
@curlynikki- Do you know whether you will be charged import duties?

Hey Curlynikki! Aren't you in North Carolina? I'm in Raleigh and I'm trying to get on the henna bandwagon too ...Where did you get your henna from locally? We need to talk if that's okay because I want to henna but I want to do it right and make sure I am using the pure henna or cassia. I am not sure if I want to henna or cassia. I'm leaning more towards the henna because I wouldn't mind having a hint of red in my hair. I've been reading all through everyone's posts about henna and cassia. So, Curlynikki did you do the cassia first and then henna or have you just been using cassia?

Spiral and Curlynikki?? I have another henna question for you two henna hair beauties ! I think I read in the thread somewhere where you said that henna causes your curls to loosen. Is this correct? My curls could stand to loosen a little bit but I don't want to eventually lose the curl definition in my hair...Please enlighten me as I am trying to get all the information I can about henna before I use it...Thanks!
Oh and Spiral, thank you for the link to hennaforhair...I read it and it was very informative...Hopefully I will reap the benefits of henna like you and Curlynikki have...

I'm in Raleigh too
I'll PM you.
Also ladies, I received a response from the Jamila guys (I asked about the color of the packaging for Spiral, the import duties for Jeamaria and how to use Western Union for myself):
Hello,
Thanks for your emails, it is very easy to send money from Western Union track the nearest location of western union from the website www.westernunion.com and send the money from them on the name of Mr.Osman Ali country Pakistan they will issue you MTCN(Money transfer control Number) simply email this MTCN to us and we will get the payment.
Henna Jamila body art quality is in silver foil packaging and outer packet is very shiny and thick.Prices which we have qouted you include shipping charges and do not include any import duty at your side if any.
Spiral, are the silver packets good?
Jeamiaria, this didn't quite answer the question, huh? How pricey are import duties...I know nothing about this.

Nikki, I believe the silver packets are the best! I'll double check. I don't anything about import duties either. Any import experts in this thread? I'll try to find out what I can.
Frizzcurls, I haven't worn my hair down for a while - I've been wearing ponytails and twists. But, I do think that the henna has made my hair shrink less because my twists are remaining just below my shoulders when dry (they usually brush my shoulders). It's either that, or I had a growth spurt LOL. I still have yet to wear my hair down to assess my curls. Hopefully this weekend.

Nikki, did you see this thread on Jamila?

ETA: I just looked at Catherine's "Suppliers" page, and Abid is one of her recommended suppliers, so they are most likely selling good, pure henna .

IT CAMMMMMMME!!!!!
now...it's just a question of how much to use
would 100g be sufficient for my hair or 200g? I read in the paper that came with it that one should use 100g for every 5" of hair...isn't that a bit much?

OFF TOPIC...
I'm from NC. Currently in B'ham. I saw your youtube about colleges and figured you were in NC based on your choices. BTW, I went to med school @ UNC. Not a bad "safety school". Good luck!

Hi ladies
I have been lurking around here and just had to chime in, I am actually a Spiral staulker your my hair idol!!! Thanks for the info on henna, and your fotki.
I have wanted to try henna for about 10 years, but since I was a permie and also colored, never took the step, cuz of all the horror stories, like hair turning green, or melting off. So now that I am natural, (still color) and found Spiral & others @ the different CG communities, & learned that as long as its pure henna your ok..... I have been so excited, excited enough that last week I grabbed my phonebook & started looking for Indian stores, I found a couple, and decided to take all day Saturday and go on a hunt, well thank God I found an herb store less than 2 miles from my house, that carried it, so that would be my 1st stop, low & behold she had henna in bulk, buuuuuut she had brown henna, copper henna, & some others, well that freaked me out, cuz I remember Spiral saying if it isnt green watch out , so I asked the lady who owned the place and she said it was pure, and that people buy it all the time, well I kept looking, and found one that was green, and smelled like cut grass, maybe a little stronger it was called "Rajah", so I bought it.
I was nervous, but my daughter is also natural with 3b-4b very frizzy hair and has no color, except some old highlights at the tips, I figured she would be my guinea piggy (please don't report me he he), since I have color on my hair. I got home mixed it up with ACV, & water, it was pretty smooth, no twigs or anything like that, then covered it and left it on the stove for about 19 hours, when I finally got to look at it, it was a dark poop color, I didnt notice color release, the mixture was just a little darker (not sure if that was the color release) but real smooth, just a little gritty, I then added honey, and coconut oil, mixed it, took about a teaspoon out for my strand test and put the rest on my daughters hair with a hair color brush, in sections, kind of how you apply a perm or color. I wrapped in saran wrap, added a shower cap, and a twistie turby towel on top. (this whole time, I didnt think it was the right stuff, I was pretty nervous, not in a bad way, but more like I wasted time and money, and this isnt the real stuff, cuz it stained the towel, but it didnt stain my skin, and it looked brown). I left the henna on her hair for 12 hours, then rinsed, it was really easy to rinse (another reason I didnt think it was the right stuff), I conditioned, rinsed again, and water ran clear, so I dried her hair, added aloe vera gel, sealed with coconut oil, then used a little eco-styler on top, (i did have a little grittyness in my hands while applying products) sent her off to school, not really being able to pay attention 2 any changes, cuz we were in a hurry. when she got home from school OH MY GOODNESS her hair had no frizz!!, i could not believe it, and it was a deep auburn color, her frizz was actually curls, I couldnt stop stairing at it, and touching it, so I ran to rinse my test strand, and OMG, my hair had turned a deep burgandy, very shiny (I have blue black permanent dye in my hair) I was amazed, now I can't wait to make it back to the store, to get my own batch, and if this stuff worked so good, I can't imagine what Catherines would be like, I just can't afford it right now...sorry such a long story, but I had to tell you guys thank you, thank you, I am now on the henna band wagon for life, I hate that I never new this, bcuz I have always dyed my hair red, just to have it fade within a few weeks, plus frying and drying my hair. Today is 3rd day hair for my daughter, and it is still curly, no frizz, this is such a blessing bcuz I have been dt'ing her hair using all natural products with no results, it stayed frizzy, the only curl definition she had was at the nape of her neck 3b, but as you go up to her crown and forhead it went from 3c all the way to 4b. She actually has spirals and curls now. I will update you as soon as I do my henna, this weekend. Thanks again ladies!!!
