Experiences with Henna?

Like Tree64Likes

Ok, so I'm home now and I think I've made up my mind. My hair is starting to feel alot more moist and I'm noticing less shedding. My curls are clumping together alot more now too, so I think I'm gonna skip on the Aphogee for now and jump straight into henna. If it doesn't seem like it's getting any better after about 8 weeks then I'll do the Aphogee. So when I go to the store I've got to remember to buy some cling wrap and apple cider vinegar. Maybe this time next week I'll be doing my first henna. How exciting. I feel so left out lol.

Soo....I think henna definitely does supresses shrinkage. I wore my hair out for the first time in a while today. After it was dry, I kept checking to make sure because it didn't shrink it's usual amount. I'm not sure if this is a permanent effect or not, but it's been a couple weeks since my last henna. I have pics in my Fotki.

All of my hair appears to be a little more relaxed, but it shows more in the canopy. My hair has always been sensitive to processes that claim to straighten hair. I had to back away from the curlaway because of that. I am hoping that the straightening effects are reversible. I only had a little bit of curl in the front and now that is gone. (I still look good though).
Just mixed up my henna, will post picturas tomorrow

btw the HoneySuckle Rose conditioner is the bomb! We had ultimate frisbee practice in the rain and we all had to do layouts into a muddy puddle. When I got home I decided to just rinse my hair with water and put it up into a bun because I was too tired to wash my hair (it wasn't muddy) plus I was concentrating more on the red ants that were eating me alive! (There were ant hills all over the field).

My hair still carries the lovely scent of the conditioner and it's ridiculously soft. No leave-ins, didn't condition, just rinsed with water. Love it

I think the BB conditioners have a little competition now
Mostly 3c and lovin' my curls

This is not a fashion trend, it's not a statement, it's pride for who we are and what we look like. And that is where our true beauty shines.

My Catherine's Personal Stash Jamila came (finally)!!! You know what this means...

By the bye, the henna is packaged in silver wrapping, just like the Jamila website stated. The henna from the Jamila site is the good stuff and I'm gonna buy in bulk from them now on!

Get it girl

My henna is ready!!! I'm going out to buy some gloves and moisturizer, I'm also going to look at some local Indian stores to see if they have the fancy silver packaging. I'll post if I find anything when I get back.

Spiral, the consistency of this Jamila henna is amazing! WOW

It went on so smooth it was actually fun to put on The stain was pretty good too...it literally stained everything it touched. Next week (i get paid!), i'm going to order some straight from that Jamila site. If its the same thing, why buy it for a marked up price from Catherine (both are Jamila and both are in the silver packaging...superior quality).

Tonight, I'm doing my first over night treatment. I just put it in, and i'll rinse whenever I get up in the morn. I'll post results

Thanks Spiral!

You're welcome girl!

Do you find that the texture of the Jamila is different from the other henna you've used?

Also, I'm trying to find info on import duties. It's a maze, I swear! Have you been able to find out anything?

They do sell Jamila "superior quality henna" in a local indian store. But it comes in clear packaging, not silver. It sells for 1.99 a box, just like I've been seeing everywhere. I'll probably henna with it next week to compare.

And Spiral, no idea yet on the import duties. I guess I could call Western Union?

Thanks NR! I called all the numbers and they were all disconnected except for the first one (I found this list a while ago, and now remember why I went to the internet). The first store has Reshma henna...don't know much about it.

Let me know how that henna works out for you (the jamila from the Durham shop). If its cool, I'll check it out
