Alright! I did my second henna yesterday and I have pics posted.

Hair condition: My hair feels great after my second henna. Even my day 1 hair did not require any stretching as it dried. My hair feels super soft and although I want to attribute it to henna, I used a new oil prior to applying products yesterday, so I'm not sure if some of it is due to the oil. I don't see much change in the color from the first aplication. It might just be a little darker now, which is fine.

Wish: I can't wait for my black hair to be much longer because it looks so bright, shiny and black after I henna. I know it'll look great once it's longer 'cause now it just looks like I need to get my hair colored.

mariage- Congratulations on your promotion! I'm collecting pictures from the internet of things I want to happen in my life and then I'm going to create a scenario around the actions in the picture. It will help me with my visualization exercises. And I know what you mean about fear. We tend to do that so often and not even realize it.[/b]

I have a visualization board and in it I put the new paycheck I wanted and it was exactly what I got. Before I got the job I made up a fake business card with my new title and right beside it I put the real business card I got after the promotion. I should buy a lottery ticket and see if that'll work too LOL

ItsiRC I rinsed out the Henna WITHOUT GLOVES and my hands were orange for weeks! I felt like an alien LOL

Queston about "The Secret" is the book or documentary easier to understand?

I read the first six pages and can't hold off on my question anymore. I will check the henna for hair site but just wondering if anyone uses the Cassia treatments in between color? Or is henna for someone that wants to stop coloring their hair. I dont think I'm ready yet :/

ok, the secret is powerful...do you all interchange or substitite the word universe with God....i'll feel weird thanking the universe instead of God..i'm excited. i just recently put post it notes up all over the house and now i'm looking forward to my vision board. i have some great ideas for that.

update: nevermind...i'm at the end of the video where they say God is the Universe and vice versa...ok i jumped the gun

i can't believe i've typed 2 pages of notes while watching this. my so and mom are asking me why am i holed up in the computer room ignoring them? i need this change and shift of energy!

Frizzcurls, thanks a lot. And, he is a little blessing. I can't wait for him to get here.

Maria, the color is not solely from the henna. I had my hair colored prior to but the henna made it darker and brighter. I love it

Nikki, thanks a million I learned from you. Well, yes the hubby's an Alpha and he's been screaming A-Phi to the belly. He firmly believes he has an Alpha in the making in there. Also, congrats on the job offers.

HeatherNicole, thanks a lot. I could see the vibrance you're referring to today. I was outside and my hair was just so shiny. I do agree that the new color blends better with the black roots. What can I say? Another great advantage of using henna. Thanks about the pregnancy look. Yesterday was one of those days when my hormones got the best of me and I just thought my face was just big and blah. So it means a lot!

Mothereartha, thank you. I will be applying once a week for the next couple of weeks and maybe slow down to every other week. I'm too impatient to wait long to see results, so weekly applications for now sound great.

You know I was thinking the same thing too?! I replaced the universe with God as well. The black guy with the dreads in the video said it's however you choose to look at it, for some it's the universe, but for most people it's God; both are perfectly fine.

This thread should be renamed, "Experiences with Henna...and The Secret"

I'm sitting here with a head full of henna watching episodes of Weeds. I'll be rinsing around 9am tomorrow and I'll get to style with my new hair toy Sheamoisture I'll post results soon. I like the look of the SM...I see great definition in my future

Spiral, I wrap it around my head in small chunks, almost as if you would if you were wearing a straight style. I make sure its all smoothed out, then put on plastic caps and a scarf.

This thread is so cool is so many levels . I can't wait to watch The Secret and catch up with you guys.

Fleurtzy, I want to see your new pics, but Photobucket isn't loading for some reason . Maybe it's my internet connection.

Gloss update: The ladies over at Henna for Hair were right! My previous henna/conditioner gloss was curdling because I was using a conditioner with too much protein to mix well with the henna (VO5 Moisture Milk). I used Nature's Gate Aloe Moisturizing conditioner this time (no oil - low protein). Let me tell you - this stuff whipped up just like chocolate mousse! It went on very smooth. My hair felt instantly slippery and soft. In fact, I'm a little worried that it might turn out too soft, but I'm going to try to leave it in for 4 hours.

Another praise for henna: I twisted my hair into 4 twists last night - I was tired. I left it all day today and finally untwisted my hair after the gym. I have to say - with emphasis - I -aint-nevah had a twist out like that before I used henna! They would always make my hair flat, which is why I prefer the wash n go - more volume. But this time, the twist out was out to my shoulders and down to my arm pits in the back. Out of all the products I tried, I can't believe the best one turns out to be crushed plant leaves lol.

Nikki,
I'm not familiar with that method, but it sounds like something I should try.

Windflower and Curli, actually a henna gloss is when you take a small amount of henna (or less than you normally use) and mix it with a lot of honey, conditioner, pectin gel , or other substance in order to stretch it out. You can also do cassia glosses as well. A henna gloss gives less color - only a "gloss" of color and deep conditioning. But you don't get the full-on effects of the henna, which some people may not want all the time - especially if they've reached their ideal color.

This is one of Fia's gloss mix from the site:
"Fia's Henna gloss - for minimal color change and deep conditioning
- 2-3 tablespoons henna powder
- Enough lemon/lime juice to mix a smooth paste
- Your favorite conditioner or plain, unsweetened yoghurt

Mix the henna powder with lemon/lime juice to a smooth paste and let this stand until you see dye release. Mix the henna paste with either your favorite conditioner or plain yoghurt. Apply to dry or damp hair and leave on for as long as you wish. Rinse as you'd rinse out a regular conditioner."

She has other glosses on the page as well: http://www.hennaforhair.com/mixes/annsophie/

I'm so excited!!! I guess we (NC Boards) are the only ones who get this excited over hair treatment!lol I can't wait for my Henna to come and for me to have a block of tme where I can do it. So how do you make the Henna gloss, that would just be for the shine and softness, not the color..right? So would that be after the Henna has sat and released the dye too long, then mixing it with conditioner or honey or something like that?

Also...I think I'm gonna look up the The Secret business! I have way too much negative energy anyway..

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.
mothereartha- When'd you post that fotki?! OMG your hair is beautiful. I vote yes. Wait until you start hennaing.

Nikki- YOU WATCH WEEDS?! Girl, weeds is the truth. Nancypants be gettin her money. I don't have Showtime, so I mostly watch episodes on the net. (If anybody is interested in watching movies or more PM me and I'll give you some sites. lol It's a great way to save money and relax during henna time lol)

Okay, so I only had my henna on today for 4.5 hours today. I'm not happy about that, but I used heat the whole time hoping it'd make a difference. And guess what- I finally got the right proportion of henna slop to honey. No stretching and scraping the pot necessary. However, I think I used a little too much cause I had a little running at my neck . I asked my friend yesterday if she could see a difference in my hair color and she said "Actually it looks like a richer more vibrant black" Which heard people saying on lhc. Alright time to rinse and see what we got goin under my cap.
