My hair is dry and feels great - really soft and defined curls. Not too red either; just a hint:

Solange your hair is radiant. Do you have a fotki? Now, I'm in search for a local Indian store that sells Cassia and stuff and a MUCH cheaper price. Also, the background of your photos look so warm and cozy looking. I like the golden frames around the pictures.
O yeah, I'm kinda down b/c I received Cassia on Friday through the mail, but I've had the flu since Wednesday so I'm VERY apprehensive about washing my hair. (and my hair is in DIRE need to be washed ASAP)!!!! Hopefully I'll be better by tomorrow!!!

Thanks ladies!! I have been growing my hair out for 2-3 years. I used to have a Fotki but I haven't really maintained it well like a Spiral NC or several others. I need to be more disciplined and update it periodically.

Your hair is beautiful Solange.
I just finished putting the henna in my hair. I didn't notice that the gloves broke through on 3 of my fingers. Sooooo, I have 3 bright orange finger tips. This is my 2nd x doing the henna. I found one of my grey hairs. I couldn't miss it...it was bright red ( like the fire truck). I'm not mad thought. I'll take bright red to grey any day. Now I have to figure out how to wear my hair tomorrow w/ my DT on it to church.

So coolio LMAO

OK so it took me FIVE shampoos (don't cringe) to finally get the Henna out of my hair. I added moisterizer and conditioner and its finally soft. I did notice that it did have a lot less shrinkage so I will definitely limit this to once a month. I love the color!! I like the red highlights all over my hair. I'll have to take a picture in the sun tomorrow to show you guys.

Thanks Jcurlady :-)

Do you have a nice headwrap or scarf? That would be a great way to cover your DT. That is what I did today - put on my workout gear and tied on a bandana to hide my saran-wrapped henna head. I went to the gym and ran errands - no problem!!

i just woke up early ( 3:30 to be exact ) and washed the henna out. That took forever. I put the DT in and slept on it. I washed it out before church. My highlights are so red. My husband said it looks like the leaves that are changing color. I don't believe him but it does look pretty bright.

OK so this morning I took out my rollers and my grey hairs were GONE! woohoo! LOL So now I have red "highlights" where the greys once were.

Solange, your hair looks amazing! Simply beautiful

I haven't sang the praises of henna in a while...so here goes

OMG! My hair after henna number 9 or 10 (still have no idea...lost count) is soooo heavy and the shrinkage issue I once had has vanished. My individual strands are resilient and much thicker...MUCH thicker! I couldn't be happier.

Also, this SheaMoisture/AA Mandarin Jelly combo is doing amazing things. My hair has never been softer, fluffier or this moisturized. I've been applying the two mixed together and although the lack of hold bothered me at first (compared to BE...after I scrunch the crunch, there is 0 hold) I like the big and wild look. Good hair days guys...good hair days

Oh and Heather, I'm going to replenish my slowly dwindling henna supply with a huge stash from FNWL. I'm going on your reviews and your reviews alone...hopefully I won't be dissapointed

I went back to my Indian store and bought more products:

Amla powder - to be used on my skin and hair. I'm going to make an Amla face mask and also mix the Amla powder with my henna to tone down the redness and and gain more moisture/conditioning.

Jamila Henna and Nesh Henna. The Nesh brand is from India and I'm told that the Indian hennas release more quickly. We'll see.

My only complaint is that they don't carry any Cassia powder - there are a couple more Indian stores nearby that I may try to find it at.

I also got some really good pastries there - yum!!!

I just found out today that my mom used to Henna her hair back in the 70's. She said that it gave her a nice red tint and made her hair strong. So I'm giving her my only stash of Cassia and doing her hair next weekend.

Here is a picture I took today after I took out the rollers and brushed my hair. I love the highlights! They're perdy LOL

Thank you Momo!!! I cut it myself back in September. Not bad for a first time hairdresser right? Ahaha Who knew I had cutting skills LOL
Anybody else want a haircut? snip snip
And yes it took a lot of courage and craziness to cut it all off

mariag002,

your rollerset it beautiful....i love it, love it, love it!

b/c my surroundings are in disarray and i can't find my picture usb download thing, i can't post pics, however i do want to post the following. the perimeter of my hair that is definitely 4a and even 3c in some patches is waaaay defined, silky, curly, etc. even without product. i think when i play in my hair all day i can feel that the penspring and 4b hair is more defined but i think the differences is texture is more noticeable which i don't think i like. ..i have random elongated wavy pieces hanging around my ears and neck and then the rest is a big as8 afro... if you take a look at at curlynikki's album, you'll see that it appears that her looser curls are a canopy around her tighter curls whereas the very front of my hair (first 1-2 inches of my dome is a loose curl and then the rest is an afro, well all around the perimeter. i hope that makes sense. any suggestions? i'll post pics as soon as i find that thing.

Thank You CN - You are my henna icon, along with Spiral NC. Now I'm planning to do weekly Friday hennas also. This friday I will use up my remaining mixed henna from the last time, mixing it with Amla powder and honey. Amla is supposed to promote growth, reduce hair loss and stimulate the scalp. Another new experiment !!

I am curious about your decision to switch to henna from FNWL - is their product superior? I intend to try a few different brands as well so perhaps we can compare notes

I made an Amla and Aloe Vera Gel mask/scrub for my face last night and my skin was glowing this morning

Mariag - I love your rollerset. Your hair looks so good and healthy!!
