LOL. Tell me about it! It went fine. But I forgot how much work it is! I was like, Oh yeah this is why I leave it in overnight. Because I'm too tired to wait and rinse when I'm done.

I was a bit pressed for time when I made my mix, so I didn't get to use the tea . I used ACV. I should have cleared my hair out the day before too. I hadn't detangled in days, so that slowed me down a bit when it came time to apply the henna - lesson learned.

I use some cones too, Oodles, so I clarify before applying henna so that the cones won't block any of the dye. As for rinsing - I rinse with water until most of the henna is out, then I mash VO5 conditioner in and rinse...again and again. I can go through most of the bottle. Sometimes I'll do a light shampoo to be sure it's out. If I have time I deep condition. But sometimes I'll just put in a leave-in conditioner and be done with it.

I 'm happy with the results. I don't have the doll hair effect back yet - that will take a couple more hennas. But the front five or six inches of my hair is deep coppery red, which matches my previously hennaed hair more and just looks richer. Yay!

My boyfriend helped me out by giving me a long overdue trim (I haven't trimmed in almost a year). I took off about an inch and a half all over. My ends look nice and fat now.

If you're so inclined, maybe you could do a test with the 50/50 henna and indigo on a small lock of hair and see how it comes out? I'm not experienced with hendigo, as it's called. In fact, I'll be asking you for advice, because I may hendigo my boyfriend's hair in the near future.
I'm scared to try a 50/50 mixture because I don't want my hair to turn out too dark. I will take before and after pics. I ordered enough to do two treatments a week apart maybe. Then if I like it, I will probably do once a month or something maybe. I dunno.

Imma have my bf help me too. He can get the back better, I would think. I don't trust him to trim it though and it's been a year for me too!

So, you put your henna on wet hair right after you clarify? And which conditioner do you use to rinse? Which shampoo do you use when you use it? I'm so nervous about giving up my hendigo virginity this weekend! YAY! I think I'm going to use ACV and maybe a little 100% ginger powder or some spice for smell. Wish me luck!

Oodles,

I would suggest to you that if you try the henna/indigo, that you don't leave it overnight. Put it on only for a couple of hours. I did the overnight thing and my hair came out BLACK!!!! It does wash out eventually, but it is still pretty dark.

Hello all, I finally uploaded my pics and can post my henna results. I did my 3rd henna about 2wks ago and am really noticing a major change. Mainly the way my hair can retain moisture with a smaller amount of product. My first pic is the only one I could find with my hair at its poofiest, and the rest are after doing the Smooth&Rake method with IC Fantasia(mixed with oil) over cond. I'm so glad I decided to try this!

Pre-henna sad face. Not dry yet, week after hennaing. 95% dry, day after hennaing. (Hope this comes out clearly)

You did a hendigo and it turned out black? OMG! Give me details cuz I thought she had me add it just because my hair was already pretty light from and I didn't want to look like a tomato! I sure was going to leave it in all night since it was my first time!

Oodles,

I used equal parts of henna and indigo, 50/50 each. It would have been ok if I did not leave it in overnight, if I only kept it on for a couple of hours. I saw how light your hair is, I would suggest that you do hennaindigo, henna alone will probably turn your hair fairly bright red.

I've read trough part of the thread and I even e-mailed catherine but I have some questions and concerns. I want to try cassia obovata but I am afraid that if I leave it for 12 hours it will release a dye which I do not want because I DO NOT want to color my hair, I just want the conditioning properties that go along with using c.o. Do I mix it with acv, lemon or tea? How much of c.o. and the acv, lemon or tea should I mix it with. They suggested at Mehandi that I use about 400-500g of the cassia on my hair. Should I apply heat? How long should I leave it on for? Do I use a conditioner to rinse it out? How many times a month should I condition with the c.o.? Thanks ahead of time for the feedback

So I read into the first few pages of this thread and went to the mehendi site ( sorry if spelled wrong) and bought some cassia 200g. Im waiting on its arrival. Im wondering if I should clip my ends some before using it? As well as, do I only mix water with the cassia or honey and water? Im so excited to try it out!!! Im hoping because Im in ohio as well as catherine I will get it soon. I wonder if I should do two treatments of it first?? Or should just one be ok?

just posted some pics in my fotki. I hennaed on the 15th and my hair was completely straight so i flatironed it. i washed today and my curls are back. the henna definitely stretches my curl but since it is so tight to begin with, i'm ok with it. it makes my hair more manageable. i don't have to shingle product through my hair in sections to get my curls to form after i henna. i now can just work my leave in and fote gel into my hair in the shower and give it a vigorous shake and i'm good to go. henna is definitely a permanent part of my hair routine.
