i'll try posting here-no one's on the 4b board.....
AM SO FRUSTRUATED. I transitioned for a year. BC in January 05 and have from 4-8 inches of natural 4b/4a(front) hair. Well I transitioned with the twistout style. I love that style-but with all natural hair, the ends are not defined and curly. I use shea/kemi butter with unpetroleum or a humectant pomade to seal the ends.Any tips out there?
I've done on dry and wet hair-no difference
transition journey began 3/04
chemical free journey began 1/05 with BC AT 2-4 INCHES
as of August 6-10inches..making progress
You last cut was Jan? I know if my ends are split then my twist out will look straight and frizzy on the ends. You might need a trim. That's what I did anyway.

twistouts in my experience are more defined when I use a gel. just a moisturizer will make it more bushy or frizzy which i dont mind if thats the look i going for. For a defined look I do my twist out with 6 to 8 flattwists going back( like cornrows)...I use sebastion wet liquid gel and it keeps it defined. when dry I take it out, very slowy as not to disturb the pattern..
Instead of braiding or twisting your hair all the way down, leave about 1 inch loose at the end and roll the ends with perm rods or small rollers. You can use several braids per roller. You can use a cream, styling foam, setting lotion, or a little bit of a light gel, like Qhemet Biologics Honey Bush Tea Gel or Aura Hypoallergenic Gel. That will make it curl up on the end.
