Paging WEBBIE! Curl Keeper question for you!...

First, I want to say Naturallycurly gives SUPERFAST service when it comes to delivering products!

I ordered Curl Keeper and the leave-in on Friday and received it this morning!

Webbie, in your opinion, do u believe that CK works best with the Silk Leave-in conditioner? Do u comb the leave-in throughout your hair to aid in detangling or do u rake it thru section by section, then apply CK?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but you're one of the few 4a people that I know that uses these two products. I want to see if it will actually make my hair "shine" like yours. Usually I just get "sheen" with products, but every now and then I want that shiny wet look.

I wouldnt say *best* but it does compliment it. I dont see any significant increased performance by the pair. I will say that Curlkeeper works best when you use some sort of leave in conditioner or if your hair is allready naturally moisturized (aka normal hair vs dry hair). Curlkeeper on parched hair is kinda scary.

When applying the conditioner, it really doesnt matter too much how you put it in, as long as your strands are coated from root to tip. I comb it in because it's easier. I also let it sit on my hair for about a minute or so to soak in. Then I apply curlkeeper. Curlkeeper needs to be applied section by section. You can be very generous with it if you need to - I have yet to get buildup from that product. Dont forget - curlkeeper will boing the curls but dont expect weighed down curls. Even if you goop it on (which I would NEVER recommend - product is way too expensive for that, and I believe you want touchable hair).

If you plan on layering curlkeeper with a heavier product (ie fantasia IC, boots) I like to add the heavier product on first, and then finish with a light raking of curlkeeper - concentrating on the ends of my hair.

I wasn't going to layer it with anything heavier (at least not yet). I'm going to do it your way first, just to see how it turns out, then maybe I'll experiment later using a "weightier" product.

I tried the pair this morning and I have mixed reviews.

I didn't like the Silk Leave-in Conditioner. My hair didn't feel moisturized or soft. I don't know what it's supposed to do, but I did not have silky feeling hair. As a matter of fact, I rewashed my hair and applied CK by itself without using a leave-in. I don't like using leave-ins anyway. I find it to be an extra step that causes unnecessary shrinkage. I just left a little bit of my regular conditioner in.

My hair looks very nice. Great curl definition, sheen/shine, and bouncy coils. As the day wears on I'll see how it controls frizz.

you know the silk leave in has mineral oil in it right? it's not much but if your hair is sensitive to it, that may be the culprit.

I been trying to stay away from the mineral oil and just realized that it had the ingredient in the Silk protein. But my hair loves it and feels smooth afterwards(plus I just started adding jojoba oil to it) But I figure if I am not really using anything else all that bad in my other styling products its seems to work out.

No apologies necessary. I noticed it as one of the ingredients, but I didn't think it would be a big deal. I guess I was wrong. My hair just felt icky.

Is AG Fast Food moisturizing? It gets rave reviews and I want something to use when I go to the beach.

I'd purchase it from you but I just ordered the 1/2 gallon, so I should be set for a while.

As for the fast food, I like it. I think it may be too light for severe winter, but as an all around daily use - go for it.

I recently tried the Hamadi leave in and I was surprised that it kept my hair soft despite how thin and runny it was.

I plan on using AG Fast Food for summer beach weather. It doesn't make any sense to put gels and other stuff in just to have it rinsed out from the water.

Okay, now that my hair is fully dry, it DOES look pretty nice. There's a healthy sheen to it and it's not stiff. After scrunching, my hair feels touchably soft. :P It's a keeper for me.

I've been meaning to purchase the Redken Sun Milk since I read your post about it a couple of years ago. Are u still using it? Is it moisturizing and does it help define curls?

moisturizing - yes
curl defining - no
detangling - yes

I've been kinda swamped with the products I've been testing and some new stuff, that I havent used it in about a year. But it's still a good product.

You were right. I used it again this morning without a leave-in and my hair feels dry and stiff - Great shine though!

Tomorrow, I'm going to try the Silk Leave-in again or I may purchase Redken Sun Milk and use that instead. But a leave-in is NECESSARY when using CK.
