This is a tough question to answer. If you remember, we are hair cousins.
When my hair was longer (before I cut 3 inches off this summer), the hair on the top of my head would grow down, and the sides and back tended to grow out. Now that I've cut it shorter, it all grows out! I'm assuming that when it gets longer, at least the top of it will grow down again.
I've seen your recent fotki pics - WOW! You've had some amazing growth this year. I've also noticed that you don't wear any hair accessories. You might want to consider using some head bands, hair cuffs, or hair clips in order to keep you from getting bored with your hair. Also, your hair looks like it's long enough for a low pony. If you want to try a pony, make sure that you get a clip made for thick hair. I have a couple of Franceluxe ones (from when I could
do a pony). They're not cheap ($25), but they look like they're made for adults, not children.
When I could do a pony, I would smooth pomade onto my soaking wet, detangled hair and then use a boar bristle brush to gather it back. Then I would quickly clip it before it exploded out of my hand.
I've just ordered some Natural-laxer after seeing the results that curlynikki's friend had with it. I don't know if you've considered using this or are even interested but it may loosen your hair. I'm going to post my results, so if you're curious I'll be your guinea pig.
