Mmmmmmmm Odwalla juice I love it but that ish costs too much.

Here's a question for the nutrition experts...

I love rice... could eat it all day erry day, therefore it;s always in the house. I bought some brown jasmine rice a couple weeks ago and compared the nutrition facts to the white rice I already had. Per serving, they had the same amount of calories but the white rice was MORE nutritious. It was enriched with vitamins and while the brown rice smelled and tasted delicious, isn't it better to have the white if its more nutritious?

SO tomorrows the big day... actually today now...
here's my menu:

Breakfast: Mixed berry and light soy milk smoothie. ( I'm Lactose Intolerant too... even skim milk bothers me, soy is yummy!)
Almond pack (Trader Joes has the pre-packaged baggies )
Snack: Granny smith apple (for my mid morning starvation around 11am)
Lunch: Big spinach salad w/ walnuts and grapes
Snack: More almonds
Dinner: More salad... different variation
All day: water water water and Arizona diet green tea

Additional snacks inlcude carrots and yogurt in case I get into an emergency situation and need to eat something quickly. I have that packed in lunch sack but hopefully I won't need to eat that.

I'm gonna be orange by Wednesday from eating all these carrots. I'm a little light headed too and my head is already starting to hurt. I'm hoping that's from my caffine withdrawal since I haven't had any tea today. Good luck everybody.

So as day one draws to a close, I've realized the following:

1. I like MEAT
2. I don't like rasberries as much as I like blackberries and blueberries.
3. I love almonds...I never really ate them before.
4. I miss meat
5. I don't like carrots

My regimine is progressing well. I decided against the yogurt (after reading about detox programs on the internet...dairy is not rec'ed).

Today:

Breakfast:
Warm Lemon Water (used it to take my supplements)
Oatmeal (with no butter or sugar )
Blueberries, Blackberries, Strawberries, Rasberries

Snack:
Berries, almonds, carrots

Lunch:
-Spinach Salad (a little Kelp thrown in)- egg white for protein
-brocolli and carrots dipped in hummus
-Berries

Snack:
Almonds

Dinner:
Haven't gotten that far... but I'm planning to do another salad (minus the egg), and a cup of brown rice.

This is harder than I thought!!! But I'm still in 100%.

Keep us posted everyone!!

After I had my salad for lunch, a few carrots, and a small 4 oz cup of coffee sweetened with splenda my lightheadedness went away. I just had a cup of red rooibos orange tea sweetened with a little raw honey from teavana. Rooibos tea is supposed to help cleanse the body and the blood I think...I could be wrong. But oh well, I am still doing well. I need to find a way to make eating the veggies not so boring, I like the idea of the hummus, hmmm I may try that. Oh and I have some steamed broccoli and mushrooms ready for dinner. I have a cup of garlic sauce, I am not sure if I will dip them in that.

Okay, hang in there. Day 1 almost done!

Tell me more about this raw honey...I read about it somewhere, but I can't remember where. Can I buy it at the grocery store? Is it a golden color?

The personal trainer said that a good dressing for our veggies and salad is: extra virgin olive oil+ lemon juice+ garlic. I'm going to whip some up tonight

I think I'll add mushrooms to my broccoli tonight!! That's a splendid idea

ETA: Don't forget that water ladies!! We need to get at least 64 oz in per day. If you don't make your quota by 8 or 9pm, don't even try, or you'll be up all night

ETA: I just got off the phone with Rex, the trainer/nutrition guy and I told him about my HUNGER, lol. He said that this is normal and desired because we should be eating the berries, greens and almonds ALLLL day. He said that the carbs I added were fine since I don't want to drop weight, but for the ladies that want the weight loss (10-15 pounds and inches off the waist), you need to avoid the carbs and stick to the almond, berry, greens, water regimine he initially suggested.

So today I faced...

The many baskets of candy and snacks that are always in the office.

An invite to my favorite chinese place for lunch.

Baskin Robins ice cream dropped off by a drug rep.

And the box of Oreo Cakesters I forgot to bring into work bouncing around my back seat during traffic.

I passed it all up and stuck to my menu above!!!! Thats huge for me! Especially the cookies in the car lol

I ate black beans and salsa for dinner though... lol I had to have something hot.

Hope everyone is doing well... it's only day one!

Some of these posts had me rolling, they are so funny. Good luck ladies. My hiking season begins next Saturday so there is no way I could participate. In any event, a 10 day detox is not for me. But please know your bodies and if you are feeling dizzy or nauseous, please eat something substantial.

I love the mushrooms, they are what is getting me through this thing!! I am eating them for lunch and dinner. Okay I am trying to lose weight, so good thing I did not eat the oatmeal or the cup of rice, but Lord knows I was so tempted to do so.

I just finished grad school class tonight from 6-10 and it is statistics so I was stressed. Stress usually brings on eating for me, but I did so good tonight yall.

For dinner I ate some almonds, carrots, and I ate the broccoli and mushrooms in garlic sauce. I had half a vitamin water for nutrients sake and two more bottles of water. I had to pee all through class...LOL. Before I go to bed tonight I will eat a cup of miso soup, which has tofu and soybean paste in it. It is higher in protein and has very little carbs. I read on-line that miso soup is permitted as part of a snack. So I will have my miso soup before I head to bed which will help keep me from eating junk, b/c Lord knows I am tempted. One of my classmates had the nerve to sit right next to me and eat two whole pieces of freshly made baklava (sp). I am too through!!

Oh and the raw honey I got from the health food store. It is sooo good and 100% natural. I was able to sweeten my red tea and keep my blood sugar levels up. I will continue with the raw tea and honey tomorrow. Oh and I don't feel quite as light headed as I did earlier.

Goodnight and be sure to check back in tomorrow.....day one is complete

Is it really a detox when you add yogurt and dip? Isn't it just a strict diet instead? Those are 2 different things, no?

Yeah, you're not supposed to consume dairy while detoxing. This is why I chose not to incorporate the organic yogurt. I eat yogurt daily, so this is my toughest challenge.
Having yogurt and not cheesburgers is still a move in the right direction

Well I did good on Saturday & Sunday. Monday not so much I had a babyshower for a good friend of mine and ate cake, drank soda, ate rice & chicken...

In the morning before the big collapse LOL I noticed that my stomach looked flatter. Hooray! I was happy but knew I was going to eat alot that afternoon. For breakfast I had an orange, banana, and strawberry smoothie from Robek. It was so delicious! And I had some berries and almonds for a snack.

After I ate lunch I had a stomach ache. Then I was in and out of the bathroom. Then by the time I got home I had a migraine So I knew that the detox was working. Today I'm back on track, yesterday is old news. I'm tracking my eating on sparkspeople.com

Maria,

Hang in there girl!! I had a mild headache last night, but that was about it. The nutritionist told me to up my carbs and protein if I ever feel lightheaded, so I'm doing my best to monitor my body. So far so good today.

I love sparkpeople!! I've checked out that site alot.

good luck and ttyl

Day 2:
I feel great, just finished a workout at the gym. I don't have a headache or feel light headed at all. So far I have eaten:

Almonds and strawberries, drank water and taken my daily supplment.

For lunch I will have carrots and hummus (for protein), a salad (lettuce, carrots, mushrooms and etc. with light vinaigrette(sp) dressing.

I will snack on more almonds.

For dinner I will have steamed brocolli in a garlic sauce.

For snack I will have miso soup and then off to bed.

I will drink another propel too before bed.

I feel great, I lost 2 lbs already and my workout was incredible. After I complete this cleanse I will definately alter my eating. I want to embark on a healthy lifestyle which will include making some changes.

I am so excited!!!

I just hope I lose the full 10-15 lbs while on this. I wish that there was no holiday coming up. My relatives are already talking about going to eat at a buffet on Friday...Lord help me. I may have to cut this thing short, but I hope not!!

Hang in there ladies and keep up the good work, yall are so motivating me. I have never done anything like this before and I feel really good.

Thanks for boosting and encouraging me!!

Hey ladies keep up the good work!!!

I have not been able to do the detox as promised. I had a long weekend my grandma is in the hospital she was on life support but by the grace of God she is off and is alive! She has opened her eyes and is doing well. So I haven't had the chance to get the right foods for my detox, barely even been eating. But I am glad to see that everybody is doing good with it, I can imagine how hard it is but I will begin next week.

Trust me when I say the migraine wasn't from the detox diet. The migraine was from all the rice, cake, steak I ate! LOL I went overboard and I paid for it dearly

mikosbelle, you lost 2 lb already! OMG how awesome! I haven't weighed myself yet, I wanted to wait till Friday.

Keke28, I pray that your grandma makes a full recovery!

Keke, glad to hear she's getting better

Maria... you crack me up

Congrats Mikos! If you do indulge in the buffet, you wont be the only one cutting this short...I just remembered I'm attending a natural hair party on Saturday, there will be pizza involved lol. I'll go 5 days strong though I can live without meat but the cheese will be calling me.

My day 2 updates:

First off... am I the only one dealing with work food battles? Are your SO's supporting you ladies? I can't believe how well I'm dealing with temptation lol

Breakfast: Berries soy and banana smoothie and packet of almonds.
side note: I really don't like almonds that much... I'm gonna hate them by the end of the week
Snack: Red grapes
Lunch: I sat in the room WITH the catered food... cookies, chicken sandwiches, pasta salad and bread! But all I ate was my spinach and romaine salad with artichokes and red pepper. It was yummy
Snack: granny smith apple... more dry a$$ almonds.
Dinner: Black beans and salsa, both organic.

Because I'm tall and far from thin... I'm almost sure I should be eating more calories than this so hopefully I'll find some info on sparkpeople... thanks for the tip!!!!

I did have enough energy to jog on the treadmill last night and I did a 30 min walk after lunch today so maybe the food amount is right

Today was good mostly. I have definitely made my water quota for today and tomorrow. I brought carrots(not enough), blueberries and blackberries to work w/ me. I ate all of that and a salad. I could not pass up the free guacamole and chips. So, I did kind of cheat but avocados are green and a veggie. Chips are made of corn. I only had a handful b/c that's all they gave me. I'm home now and starving. So, I'm off to make my salad. Good luck ladies and I'll say a prayer for your grandmother Keke.
