LOL! Water always goes straight through me...when I'm drinking like I'm suppose to, I have to go every 30 minutes!

In other news, I've lost 3 pounds in 3 days (keep in mind I started at 105lb), and this morning I generally felt under the weather. I had the flu a month ago, and when I woke up this morning, I had body aches, general fatigue, nausea, sore throat and a cough!!! These symptoms came out of nowhere!!! I called the trainer and he told me to up my protein and carbs and that I'm probably too small to stick to such a strict regimine. I'm thinking that my immune system may have been compromised since I wasn't eating as much? I never eat alot, and apparently I wasn't eating enough of the berries and greens either. He wants me to stop with it all together, but I don't want to through in the towel completly. So, in order to up my caloric intake, I'm going to incorporate one 4-6 ounce piece of chicken into my dinner, and have a turkey sandwhich for lunch. Unfortunately, it's not too different from my day to day diet before the detox, but I can't take being sick like this. I'm still going to avoid beef, pork and dairy for the rest of the 10 day period, and hopefully cut pork out of my diet altogether after this. By the way, it's 11pm, I had a dry ass piece of George Foreman grilled chicken, and I'm feeling like myself again...

I'm sorry that I can't continue with the 'true' detox ladies, but believe me, it's not because I don't want to...

Keke, I'm happy to hear that your grandma is doing better. I went through a similar situation a month ago.

ETA: His clients (my mother and her class) are doing really well! 7 of them have stuck to the original regimine with NO problems. One of them has lost 3 pounds and she is very pleased. No dizziness to report. My mom is doing great too!! Like me, she's not trying to lose the weight, just using this as a jump off point to start new eating habits. She's hoping to lower her cholesterol and lose a few inches off of her waist. I'll keep you guys posted!

Curlynikki, I hope you feel better. I hadn't seen 105 on my scale since I started high school. You definitely don't need to lose any weight. You should appreciate your 105lbs. I didn't appreciate it when I was small and I gained in all the wrong places.

Jso, I didn't want to say all that but everything else is making a quick exit as well.

I'm not having my cravings as much. I cooked on Mon. b/c my dh wouldn't do the detox w/ me. I also feel full after I cook so I knew that would curb my cravings. I steamed some fish. Even though I wasn't hungry, I really wanted a piece of that fish. I'm gonna bake the fish today. He doesn't know it but he's doing a lunch and dinner diet.

curlynikki, hang in there and I pray you feel better oh and Keke, I am glad your grandma is doing better, God is god all the time!!

I must admit that I have lost 3lbs roughly. I desperately needed to lose some more weight but I must go about this in a healthy manner. I have increased my workout sessions and after talking with a nutritionist I discovered that I need to uptake my caloric intake. The body needs calories to burn and if I don't have calories present it could go into starvation mode and try and store fat or it could burn up muscle which I need to help burn the fat. Given the detox program I was only eating 500-700 calories a day. For my height and the weight I need to lose I need to eat more to stay healthy. So I will be ending the detox early. I will do it for today but I will be eating a lot healthier after this. No more fast food for this girl. I will begin to incorporate lean meats (fish and chicken) back into my diet as well add in healthy carbs that have a low glycemic index. I appreciate this experience and I have learned so much about my body. But today will be my last day. Tomorrow I will add the healthy meets back. I will continue to drink the water though. Thanks once again for helping me see that eating healthy is very important, but with all the working out I am doing, I need to eat more. I also have increased my protein intake and I feel great.

Tonight for dinner I will finish up strong with a spinach salad, and mushrooms.

I am looking good and feeling great.

Thanks once again!! For those ladies who will continue on the detox best of luck until next Wednesday.

Day 2:
I feel great, just finished a workout at the gym. I don't have a headache or feel light headed at all. So far I have eaten:

Almonds and strawberries, drank water and taken my daily supplment.

For lunch I will have carrots and hummus (for protein), a salad (lettuce, carrots, mushrooms and etc. with light vinaigrette(sp) dressing.

I will snack on more almonds.

For dinner I will have steamed brocolli in a garlic sauce.

For snack I will have miso soup and then off to bed.

I will drink another propel too before bed.

I feel great, I lost 2 lbs already and my workout was incredible. After I complete this cleanse I will definately alter my eating. I want to embark on a healthy lifestyle which will include making some changes.

I am so excited!!!

I just hope I lose the full 10-15 lbs while on this. I wish that there was no holiday coming up. My relatives are already talking about going to eat at a buffet on Friday...Lord help me. I may have to cut this thing short, but I hope not!!

Hang in there ladies and keep up the good work, yall are so motivating me. I have never done anything like this before and I feel really good.

Thanks for boosting and encouraging me!!

Hey Nikki,
Sorry that youre having such a bad response but you have a really fast metabolism to begin with, my suggestions are antioxidants and everything that has it i.e green tea, blueberries. Incorporate fruit into your oatmeal so it can be more nutritious.
Also more protein doesn't = meat. Here are some great sources of protein:
Cliff bars ( I like the apricot flavored)
Chick Peas (great in salads)
Egg Whites
Legumes in general
Barilla PLus pasta (made up of legumes and chick peas)

Also side note for everyone. This is a heavy NYC thing due to our million tossed salad bars in every corner but make sure your salads are hearty. Plain lettuce and a chunk of chicken is not the most nutritious. Complement your salads with fresh fruits be it berries, grapes, dried cranberries, raisins, chopped granny smith apples, whatever comes to mind; healthy nuts, legumes and veggies that YOU like to eat.

Last reply and this is for JSoCurleigh and your question about brown rice vs white rice. White rice has added vitamins because all the nutrition was stripped off while processing.Brown rice does not need it.
While nutrition facts might seem the same on paper, you will be able to tell the difference once you eat it. Most people can eat white rice to no avail...while 1 cup of brown rice is more than enough. Also brown rice has a lot of fiber and will send you to the bathroom especially if your stomach is not used to it. White rice just sticks to the hips. Brown rice is better without a doubt.

ITA yes the whole point was to jump start my metabolism and encourage a healthy eating lifestyle. I totally understand that a detox will not work as a weight loss scheme, I never intended for it to be that. I do work out and lift weights on a daily basis and the 500 calories a day was not healthy for me. So yes I am making sure I listen to my body and take care of myself. I would hate to pass out on the track while running..LOL. But after completing the five days I did lose a few pounds, definately toned a lot and I feel great!! I look forward to continuing on a healthy lifestyle journey.

I didn't do the detox the way I was supposed to, but I did find that I don't crave bread like I did just last week. I have this "peace" inside me that I haven't felt in a very long time. I didn't lose any weight because Aunt Flow should be arriving soon LOL but I don't feel as bloated as I normally do. Normally when I'm PMSing I'm eating everything in sight, right now I just feel fine. I had lots of fruits, veggies, cans of V8 (next time I'll get it low sodium), I absolutely loved my bottle of carrot juice, I didn't miss coffee and I still need to drink more water (I'm trying). So I'm going to buy a book on the subject and try to do it the proper way. Thanks ladies!

I must tell u ladies...this is the thread that has brought me out of lurking here (I havn't posted in over a year).

I've been looking for a way to kick start my weightloss program and since reading you ladies...i've decided that I'm going to do a detox before starting my modifications (i have to keep telling myself...it is NOT a diet...lol). i have a lot of weight to loose and i always get derailed with the cravings and such. So both my doctor and nutritionist suggested a detox as a starting point.

So...i'll be followign u ladies here...and I plan to get things started the first week in April.
