Default Do Black Men Still Relax Their Hair?

I know black men did this back in the day, but do some do it now, in this day and age? I was thinking about this when I saw James Brown.

yep! my uncle does, my husband's cousin does, my friend's boyfriend does, my cousin does, and my husband's barber suggested it to him, because he was asking me if he should. The barber says if he wants to grow a fro, it can't get big without relaxer because his coils are too tight (?????)

One of the last times I went to a salon, there was a guy in there. He proceeded to get a touch up and then got some fingerwaves. I was in awe.

Wow, so I guess there is still a number of men who do this. Amneris, I think your husband can definitely grow a 'fro without the help of a relaxer.Blaqpearl, fingerwaves??!!!!???

I know he can. That barber is wack. He is known for craziness. The last time I went there with my husband the barber wanted to give me a weave even though I already have long hair, and then suggested a jheri curl.

yes they certainly do. last week i was sitting with SO at the barber shop - one guy was getting a texturizer touch-up. and another guy with about 15 inches of hair was getting it colored a light brown! and on top of that, another guy was getting his eyebrows waxed. i kid you not. i had to pinch myself and check with my SO to make sure we weren't in a beauty salon!

*Amneris, that barber does sound a little off... why would someone offer you of all people a jheri-curl? the weave i could see maybe, lots of women get weaves as a protective style... but a jheri curl? eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwww! :x
