April 2009
I will be doing the curly fro pony puff for my protective style. Sometimes I wear it up like this for a week or two weeks. I just tied it down with a silk head scarf at night and it keeps my hands out of my hair. To view some of my pics go to DYTG

sorrry for upping this
I was bunning wet, however my hair would be extremely tangled in the back when I took my hair done.
I don't know. I am thinking about doing my reg moisture regimen as if I am twisting, so in essence I will apply the same amount of product before pulling my hair into a ponytail. I don't know what else to do. I gave up and started doing puffs and basically pinning the ends under.
I will try again next week.

are you making sure to detangle prior to bunning? and how long do you leave your bun in before taking it down? i always had damp hair prior to bunning and i didn't have a problem with tangles. but then i took my bun down at night and repositioned so all my hair could dry.
since you mentioned twists, i started doing a twist bun (ponytail, put length in 2-4 twists, then bun) and it gives me an opportunity to finger detangle as i rake in product.
hopefully you find a method that works for you, tho!

hi! who knows my memory is sh---y i thought i was but obviously it wasn't enough. this was a few weeks ago...i definitely realized i wasn't moisturizing enough.
so this morning i figured i would cowash and try again...first off my hair was again tangled, because i went to bikram two days in a row. i rinsed my hair and left it out why did i do this? i don't know i already know my hair hates that!
anyway so this morning i cowashed with suave tropical coconut mixed with aloe gel evoo and honey and washed in four sections. it was pretty painful and took almost 35 minutes! (so that ended my plans to get to work early) i then added more conditioner and water to work out the kinks (my roots are always tangled and thick)
i rinsed and patted some of the water out of my hair with a tee shirt ( i need to do laundry i have no clean microfiber towels), then i added kc knot today GENEROUSLY to each section and worked it through and sealed the ends with coconut oil and pinned up each section.
(yes i am still going on with this story...)
ok next step was to add my shea butter blend, which i copied from fleurtzy. http://www.textureplayground.com/blog/?p=1642
so i worked the butter into each section, then separated each section into 3 or 4 pieces and added more butter...yes! i had to do this! i have so much hair it would never penetrate from the outside.
so i worked it all through, gathered my hair up into one and used a scrunchie! (i went to so many stores last night looking for these and i was dead tired from bikram)
OKthe scrunchie is the truth. i was using ouchless bands um these are not ouchless at all! my hair would tangle itself around the bands after ONE DAY! pretty horrible.
anyway maybe i will upload a pic it looks really smooth and tamed...
i have bikram again tonight and i don't know what to do about the sweat. i don't want to rinse again because it will tangle...
maybe i can take it down and spritz some jane carter leave in, then do two big twists and go to bed?
(sorry this was sort of a mini rant)

i know when i was exercising regularly, i preferred to wear my hair in buns so that I could co-wash every few days because my scalp would just get so dirty. maybe you can style your hair in jumbo twists, bun those, and then just wash/rinse your scalp with the twists in after yoga? this may minimize the tangling you experience.

so i've been using a scrunchie to bun...everytime it take it down i have like 2 or 3 strands in the scrunchie....EEK!
im starting to think my hair is in need of protein? based on this thread Am I the only natural that likes proteins?
i did subrock's strand test..and i pulled and pulled and it never snapped
sigh

oh, wet the scrunchie with water and squeeze before you bun, otherwise the hair will sneak into the cotton fibers. i rotated scrunchies on a daily basis to make sure they had a chance to dry, and i washed them with my laundry every other week.
hmMm@ the protein...my hair never pops either. guess i need to join you on the protein train !

I'd want in!!
@ BlackAngelPlayah We should start it up. I def would join. This would take out the stress of having to style my hair every day. My only real concern would be my hairline, I kind of just got them back full
