I'm Bunnin' It...a grow-out challenge of sorts :)

RCC and Mothereartha I also have a sensitive scalp. For us sensitive ladies and Momo I recommend doing the two strand twists. I've had mine in for a week and a half now. I put the twists in a bun to protect the ends. Nothing fancy because I'm still learning what else I can do to my hair besides wearing it out. That is why this is a real challenge for me, but my hair feels so soft and its also saving me money because I have not remoisturized since I did my twists. I've only been spritzing with oyins juices and berries.

Fleurtzy, you have some healthy, long, and sexy hair! I'm going to go to bed tonight and dream that my hair grew this long after this challenge.

I'll post lenghth pics this weekend when I take out my twists.

OK.... You've convinced me that maybe bunning really is how I got my length, CurlyNikki. I think my problem before was the type of hair tie I was using. So I've been bunning a lot lately, but I've also been moisturizing my ends and problem areas a lot too.

I do have a question for you guys. Is it bad for your hair to twist the hair into a bun and tuck the ends under that without a scrunchy? (Like this: http://www.dressytresses.com/hair/ga...ruct/hair-bun/ without scrunchy) My hair stays that way for hours. I usually do it while it's wet, but do you think it would be better if I do it dry? Should I just switch to the scrunchy bun instead?
I have 3c hair that I haven't straightened in over 5 years. It's just past shoulder length when dry, and almost waist length when pulled straight.

Products:
9/02/08 Went CG
05/12/09 Still CG. Cowashing with VO5 Lavender Luster. I then condition with Giovanni Smooth as Silk. Styling with VO5 Lavender Luster conditioner with my wide-toothed comb.

on other bunning news, i had noticed that my non-bunned hair tended to be dry and dull in the mornings. last night, without removing the bun, i spritzed my crown area with water, moisturized with sweet almond oil, and put my scarf on. this morning, i could see a difference.

My hair is too short to bun, so I tried to get in on this challenge with twists. I'm never comfortable with how I look with twists and only wear them to the gym. I decided to give them a try and wear them to work today. These will probably be taken out by lunch time because I'm not really feeling them. I'm surprised I made it out of the hosue with them in.

I got issues...

They're still in, and that's only because I've been in meetings all day. I think that maybe if there were more of them, it would look fuller, and maybe better. I have a zillion bobby pins in, trying to make them stand out some in the back. It's just not working. My coworkers love them, but they won't see me like this the next time I come into the office. I only come in the office twice a week, so I'll stick to wearing twists on the days I work from home, and wearing it out when I come in.
It hasn't been that long that i have been wearing a bun, maybe a week or so. I jst finished cowashing and doing a DT and not that much hair came out when I detangled....anyone else getting less hair when detangling??

Hair Type: small 3c patch in the center, mostly 4a with a patch of 4b at my temples
Shampoo: Suave daily clarifying ( when I feel that need)

Soon2b, I'm definitely getting less hair when detangling(basically less breakage)...a signficantly less amount

Curlymami, I'm glad to hear it!!! I feel you too...my hair is thriving in this little bun. Too bad it's not as fun as wearing your hair out.

Even though my bun has some wiggle room I still am getting headaches.. This bunning project better be worth all this pain.

Hey ladies! So I started "bunning" this Monday. I used to bun all summer long when I had a relaxer so this is a good challenge for me!

My hair feels great so far! I'm noticing that it's retaining moisture a lot better. When I let it down @ night I just moisturize my hair w/ 100% organic coconut oil. It's also not tangled up or anything yet. I think that's because I made sure to really detangle it before placing it in a bun.

This week I have my hair parted to the side and in a bun. I'll probably alternate the part weekly or so for variety.
Here's my test bun with a flexi-8. It's messy:

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.
Hear that crash? It's me falling off the CG wagon.
I love it! Your curl definition is amazing...even pulled back
