Fantasia IC Gel??

Hi everyone :-) I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now and almost everyone has praised the Fantasia IC gel. I've seen it in Walgreen's, Sally's, etc...but I'm not sure which one to get. Can anyone tell me the difference between the clear, green, and blue? Is there one I should stay away from? I'm still figuring out my hair, but I think it may be a combination of 4a/b. I wish there was somewhere you could go for an analysis of that.

Also, how does the Fantasia gel compare to KCC? I have that but I don't really think I have the technique down right. I don't like the crunch and I can't get second day hair with it. I don't have time to wash my hair every single day.

And has anyone used the Proclaim activator gel with aloe vera they sell at Sally's? I have a jar in my closet but I've never used it on my whole head.

And finally the last part of my question (lol). What should I use as a leave in under the Fantasia gel? I'm thinking either Carol's Daughter Hair Milk, Garnier Soft Curl Cream, or Giovanni Direct Leave In.

Any suggestions are appreciated :-). I know the Fantasia gel is a cheapie but I'm so sick of trying so many products and not having them work for me.
I really don't think there is difference between them. I've only used the clear. However, I stopped using it because of the ingredients. Specifically this Triethanolamine (TEA)

I'm not trying to scare you, just trying to make you aware. As a styler, the gel works very well.

KCCC is supposed to be all natural, and for that reason, it is worth a try. It is very expensive compared to IC. I don't like it as well though. Go figure. In place of using gel, I apply shealoe butter and coconut oil to my hair, then make about 10-14 bantu knots. I let then set overnight, then unravel.
After reading many reviews on different forums, I saw that alot of curlies use the blue one. As for myself, i use the green one because of the extra olive oil that's in it.

i am not sure what the differences between the fantasia IC gels are. i use the clear one because it comes in a tub and i get more product for my dollar. but if you buy from sally's, they have a generous return policy. cvs does too on beauty products (though not sure if hair care counts as beauty...usually it's the make up and nail care). wherever you go, just be sure to ask about the return policy in case you don't like what you buy.

i've never used KCCC, so i cannot compare fantasia IC to it.

i used a proclaim gel way back in the day. probably a different formulation now, but i liked the results.

and for layering, i've used GF soft curl cream under fantasia IC fine.

I use CD hair milk under the IC Fantasia clear. I really like the results when I have time. Generally after the gel I put a oil on top for more sheen and moisture. I hope this helps.

I have used the clear and the blue one. The clear is the regular one, blue- for color treated hair so is supposed to b less drying, green- has olive oil which I have never tried but want to...it seems like it should be really moisturizing. I use sheamoisture underneath or any good leave in, then I seal with olive oil and then put on the fantasia IC. Sometimes I put olive oil on after the gel to soften it.

Hair Type: small 3c patch in the center, mostly 4a with a patch of 4b at my temples
Shampoo: Suave daily clarifying ( when I feel that need)
Conditioners: AOHSR, MM, olive oil
Styler/Leave-in: SheaMoisture, Fantasia IC, HNS
How do you guys apply the gel? Maybe I'm apply it wrong and that's why the KCCC is crunchy. Do you rake it through or do you go layer by layer and smooth it through?
I rake and smooth it in section by section then shake when im all done on really wet hair (bot soaking wet though, just not dripping). I probably do about 12 sections on my head

Carol's Daughter Hair Milk is great as a leave-in.

I've been using the IC clear for my hair bun challenge. I use it to show off my waves and to add shine. I was initially worried about a few of the ingredients, but I co-wash often.

I've used all three of the Fantasia Gels...so here's the low down.

In terms of hold...the clear has the most (crunch) with the blue having the least (soft hold). The green is in the middle.

In terms of moisture...the blue has the most, and the clear and green are about the same.

In terms of layering with other products, the clear and blue are the best...but something in the green makes in curddle with some products.

SO...I perfer the BLUE the most...then the clear, and lastly the green.

Hope this helps.

Great thread! All of you are so knowledgeable about your hair! Thanks to the OP for making this thread, I had the same question!

I have tried KCCC and I couldn't get the amount right. Either I didn't add enough and had frizzy hair (roots are natural, middle is texturized, bottom is relaxed) or I added to much and had a sticky stringy mess. But I just tried some IC over some olive oil and some curl activator instead, and was fairly happy with the results--my hair just looked like 2 textures instead of three and I had a lot of soft waves and curls, but my hair was still quite frizzy. I'm not sure if I'm not using enough product or if my hair is just damaged from straightening or both. But I think it's a combination of both. I only use low heat on my ceramic iron and flatiron once a week. Do you guys glop on the gel? I used it very sparingly. I think deep conditioninings will help with that also. Gearing up for the big chop--in like 1-3 months. Haven't decided when yet. But the Kinky Curly styling spritz is great for rod sets and probably twists.
I have been using the Fantasia for almost 2 months now. Its the best gel that I have ever used. I use it on top of Carols Daughter Hair Milk. I do glob it on; I probably use way more than I should.

I have tried the KCCC about 3 times and I still dont see what all the hype is about. I loved the definition and had no frizz but I had the worst shrinkage ever. The stuff claims to elongate but I got the same results I get using other less expensive products. I have alot left in my jar. Im gonna try it again later this week. Hopefully, I will get something right this time because I really wanna love it.

Im thinking about cutting my hair. Maybe it works better of short hair. Anyone know?
