Used henna for the first time. Quite pleased with the results, hair is conditioned and soft. It helped with clumping and stretching of my coils, strangely enough. What's that about?

Didnt out my hair in 2 ponytails last night so this morning I woke up to a mes. Had to get my son to preschool early so I decided to try a bun...it worked!,, my hair can be pulled into a center ponytail dry! I just ping the puff down and bam....bun....too happy.

I need to step up my moisture pronto. I'll definitely go back to moisturizing an baggying at least three times a week. I did that when I first decided to transition in early 2008 and my growth was ridiculous. Gonna try out the Scurl spray and maybe purchase more HS 14-n-1 spray.

And I need to figure our why the left side of my hair grows slower than the right. It's crazy, if you ask me.

Flat ironed my hair at the end of February. I have a high waist, so I'm hoping to be waist length in a year or so. I just need to work on my protein/moisture balance and length retention.

Length check photo attached. Yay! Random 4A thoughts-imageuploadedbycurltalk1364877895.907471.jpg

I really dislike how some products don't rinse out clean. I had to shampoo twice last week. Thank Goodness for Bobeam.

I have tried some deep conditioners that felt that way. Granted I should have known better because is one case it was a DC that had mineral oil in it. I ended up throwing it away. Yes my hair felt soft but whats the point if it feels filmy too. For that it could have stayed dirty.

My aunt has been recovering from surgery and unable to go to the salon for retouches so she is 4 months post. She has been calling me because she is having trouble combing it and it locking up. I gave her some suggestions but wasn't sure what she was doing since she lives in another part of the state. Anyway, my mom and I went to stay a few days with her and I offered to do her hair. OMG!! The breakage was horrible and it would shed all over my hand every time I touched it. I had her buy some things and I did a hot oil with EVOO, shampooed, dc'ed with a little protein, then did a curly twist. her hair detangled easily with little hair coming out. she said last time she detangled she had a small furry cat. the end style was cute. the roots were in great shape but her ends were thin, weak and unhealthy and hella damaged. My mind was saying "you need cut this crap off and start over." but she was just talking about cutting just a little of it off. I kept quiet. I mean she says she can't really roll it anymore because of her injury. If my hair looked like that I would have a twa before you could say twa. But that's me.

usually I like to do rhassoul one week, bentonite the next week, amla&hesh ayurvedic mix next week and then henna the other week but a sister has been slacking for a bit

so what i usually do to make up is do weekly clay washes to get me back on track.

When I come out of a protective style, my hair is very stretched and doesnt like to revert back so what I do is back to back clay washes.

usually does the trick for me

Nice, ill have to try that rotation. I dont think im going to repurchase the ground herbs or rhassoul clay. just bentonite & this will be a good way to phase them out. im going to just get whole amla berries and brahmi and infuse my coconut oil.

I really believe people who say hair grows faster when the weather is warmer. At least that is definitely the case with my hair

Tired of this "Shedding"...idk! How much is toooooooo much? I deep condition once a week, moisture/protein balance (alt). Drink plenty of water...
I'd like to think that I'm gentle while detangling and in just the basic handling of my hair! Washed on thursday, followed up with a black tea rinse & deep cond. Uuuuuugggghhhhh still random shedding (long strands) during basic handling...I know they say 100 strands a day, but why does it seem too much even AFTER proper detangling?...OVER IT!!!

Yesterday a lady (non-natural) told me she liked my hair and asked me how long it too me to do my strawset. I guess she saw the look of confusion on my face because she then added oh, you must be natural. Keep in mind my hair is mostly a massive amount of 4a. I would have to be out of my mind to do a straw set to create this. I told her it was natural and she said "you're luckey you don't have to spend hours in beauty parlors like the rest of us do."
