My heart breaks. I've been breaking out in hives at random times for the last 7 months or so. The allergist determined I'm allergic to walnuts and pecans and thus should avoid all nuts and nut oils because of the high probability of cross contamination. That leaves me without two of my favorite leave-ins...Camille Rose Moisture Milk and Sheamoisture Kids Curling Buttercream, because both contain nut oils.

My feelings are really hurt.

NOOO!! *hugs*

Okay, for me comparable equivalents for the two leave ins are oyin hair dew and qhemet biologics burdock root butter cream.

I have Oyin hair dew and I alternated that with my diluted Purabody Sapote Hair Lotion as a moisturizer. I need more for a leave-in though. Realized yesterday when I checked it that I can't use my sapote lotion either. I have them on top of my bathroom cabinet just looking at me everyday....lol.

On a positive note, I think I'm going to like the Jane Carter Hydrate leave-in Smoother creme. I'm gonna give it 3 more uses before I call it.

I hope it's as good as The CR milk...fingers crossed. For me, that was some all week softness right there.

I know how you feel, that is hard to find. Thankfully our options as naturals are only increasing.

So EVOO has always been a mixed bag for me. I more than love it as my pre-poo. And actually I like to leave it in my hair as part of styling because it provides good shine. The problem has always been that it breaks my skin out on my face if I don't rinse it out. So recently I experimented by using EVOO in my kimmaytube li recipe. (I didn't put castor oil in). I only added a little EVOO. Much less than when I've tried sealing with it. And what do you know it worked well. I got that added shine but no breakouts.

I have GOT to keep up my regimen of dc'ing and taking care of my scalp. I cannot believe the amount of hair I combed out of my head this evening. It had been more than two weeks since I had a good, deep wash and condition, and my scalp had told me it was not acceptable.

A guy in Walmart asked to touch my hair. I said no because I'm sick to death of people touching my hair. But at least he asked. I think I'm going to start bunning and ponytails more to keep fingers away.

Since using the Super Wet gel and the Xtreme wetline gel, I don't even like how my hair looks with Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic anymore. It's not as flexible of a hold and I'm not getting as much movement.

That's actually surprising to me, but it's a plus since both of those gels are a lot cheaper than UFDCM.

I'm so hard headed sometimes. I have never been able to use oils or lotions on my face . But my coworker and I were talking about how we both use coconut oil for our skin and I said I use it everywhere but my face. Very sensitive. She said it worked great for her as a makeup remover so in curiosity I used it and guess who is broken out. I'm so mad at myself!!

I'm finally able to do the single low ponytail at night, but I still have to pin down a few pieces in the front. This has been working very well for me.

I got home like 1 am and could tell my hair wanted a cowash but I was tired so I decided to try like on yt and make something new of my old braidout. I used spritz, moisturizer and flexi rods and went to bed. EPIC FAIL! This morning my hair was like the sahara. I had to slick back a pony tail for church. Every time I try to cheat about my cowash it bites me in the butt. My hair needs to be drenched often I can't seem to get around it. . Now that it is getting so hot and humid I will have to go from every third day to every other day.

I have finally embraced my thick kinky coily tresses. It took 3 years, but I am okay. I wouldn't change my life, my life's just FINE FINE FINE!

I really wish my relatives would get past this whole gud hurr bs! I think I made some headway with my great aunt. I told her just because something is different doesn't make it better or less. We are the way God made us. She told me how when she was growing up light skin people didn't like being around dark skin. They would openly insult them and claim to be better than them. Light skin people got treated better. She finally relented that this is left over slave mentality and we need to move on

This freaking heat is drying out my hair. I always have to up my cowashes in the summer. Usually it goes to every other day but lately it has been every day. My hair has also been shedding more. Looks like there will be a lot of buns between now and fall..

My grandma said the same thing to me, but she added she didn't like lightskin people (I'm light skin) and she said I just need to keep flat ironing my hair since I wanna be like "them" anyway.

Sounds like she has some bitterness she needs to let go of. I have always said colorism goes both ways. My mom has a brother who is dark skn and a sister who is lighter than some white people. Same parents. my aunt gets way more grief about her color than my uncle does

I love my hair
I'm not trying to sound like a saseme street song but I do. So full and curly and big and sexy. Rarely tangled or dry. I just adore it. People can keep coveting type 3 hair but I'm more than pleased with my 4a with splashes of 4b and 3c. It's so beautiful, everything I ever wanted as a girl. <3
