After wearing my hair in a bun for a few days straight, it is so nice to have my hair flying in the wind in different directions. It's as if my hair is rejoicing for being let loose. Dance away!
I'm so glad that I'm confident enough to wear my natural hair.

Hair Type: Kinky Coily

Me
I have a cousin who just cut her hair and is rocking a twa. Well actually she has flat twists in the front. It is so cute and I am so happy that someone else in family has dared to go natural, especially since her hair is more kinky curly.

I am especially excited about that because we have another who made a weak attempt at going natural but gave up really early in her transitioning and got another perm after having tons of excuses (that whole we don't have the same hair, so you don't know what I'm going though thing). I am hopeful that once she sees our other cousin, who's hair is more like hers, she will be more inclined to go natural. Rock that fro cuz.Maybe she can be a mentor.
Waiting for gravity to kick in. On my hair, that is.

I'm supposed to be reading for my Human Sexuality class (final on April 28th) and I keep getting sidetracked.

I really want a job this summer. I feel like a bum considering I've never had a "real" job before. All the applications I've put in just make me feel worse.

I hope the phone case I ordered last week is in my mailbox tomorrow.

I need to find a curly salon in Atlanta. I need a trim. Badly.

I really wanna try henna and indigo.
Im just feeling like blah today...

*After years off and on with hair websites, I still don't know if I'm a 4a or 4b or if it even matters one jot.

*I finally understand why my hair failed to thrive growing up. I was doing my mom's hair yesterday and compared our hair stands. Mine was like a spider web next her thread.

She was press and curling me to death most of the time. I guess it isn't her fault because that's what she knew. She still does color and heat with no growth retention issues...some breakage from sleeping in hard curlers but that's it.

If I did that mess, I'd be bald to the brain. It's so unfair.

Seriously I would like to be able to do more to my hair than moisturize and leave it 'lone. I feel like I have to walk on eggshells in circumambulating silent meditation around it and it just sucks sometimes.

It's so boring but, for my head ,excitement usually equals damage.

*related note. I hate that hairdressers would eyeball me and think because I have a lot of hair (density..hairs per sq inch) that my actually fine hair was 'coarse' and therefore could stand up to their abusive styling 'techniques' (read: torture).

OTOH, they would look at my mom's looser curl and less dense coarse hair and proclaim it 'fine' and proceed to treat it with kid gloves.

just arrghhh.

I am a house head & saw black coffee spin tonight this is my cut: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q0sXXIM7GA
Most of my hair is at least 10" long, so I'm really curious as to why a lot of my shed hairs have been 2-4" long over the past week or two. I'm not worried, but I feel--disappointed in these little hairs not reaching their full length potential. LOL. Maybe I'm shedding in preparation for the summer like my cats.
[they have bulbs so I'm sure they're shed hairs]
layer cake of tight, spongy and silky/thready S strands that kink more than they coil
spiced with a few spiral coils and non-curling waves
mostly medium and fine with a sprinkle of coarse strands
protein is yummy
i still don't know what my texture is after all this time either. i thought i was a 4b/c till my hair really started to pick up growth. this is my hair freshly washed w no product.

i'm assuming 4a then? a little help please lol.
Don't worry, it doesn't matter what your curl type is really. It seems more important to know what your strand size and porosity are.
However, I'll answer and say 4a. It seems to me that the tighter 4a's mislabel themselves 4b because not many people have seen z hair. But IMO, it's beautiful little 4a coils because you have all kinds of curl definition popping.

I hadn't done such a great detangling job that day. d'oh!
I can't decide either so I usually just say 4. I was convinced that I was cnapp for a while but my washed hair wasn't exactly like the ladies I saw there. When it's stretched it can pass for cnapp but drawn up it's seems more chaotic and coily in areas.

I also thought I'd found a near twin here:

http://www.youtube.com/user/cynthiarf

but I think her curls are larger and I suspect that she's less fine(stranded) and porous than I am. She does a lot of wash/rinse and gos too.

I tried that but it didn't work for me past a certain length.

Lately I have been so proud of my hair health but I am getting bored. Maybe I should set up an appointment to color it for the summer Nothing dramatic maybe a dark color with highlights(very subtle) of some kind. I want to get it professionally done but I am nervous about how chemical color will affect my hair strands. I dont want a setback because I really want to grow it out FAST HAHAHAHA. O Well I guess I will keep dreaming and researching until I get the nerve or just become content.
i'm bored to tears & craving color too.

alas, i can't. I already know where that road leads for my hair.

I'm channeling my shopaholic/changeaholic energies into hair toys, scarves, moisturizing, fotki drooling, reading hair sites etc.

I find it soo amazing how fast natural hair grows. I look at pics from last year and I can't believe how much hair I have now.

When is my indigo powder going to get here? I really wanna go back to black. Colored hair just doesn't look as good on me as it does on others. I realize i have to stick with my natural black color.

I am so sad . My supervisor implied to me this morning that I should get my hair "done". And there were (3) other of my colleagues around. We were talking about Charlotte, NC (where I am from originally and now reside in a small town in TN). And his words came out like this: "Maybe you could go get your hair "done". And everyone around me just laughed. This really hurt my feelings. My hair is in a curly afro today with a really cute pearl bobby pin on the side. Maybe I am just over sensitive and thinking too much into it. I am sure that if I told him maybe you should go see a dentist about the horrible stench in your mouth that would've hurt his feelings.

I have been natural for 8 months now. When I started working here I wore sew in after sew in. It makes me think he was thinking this for a while and finally got the nerve to say it. I have had some people compliment me on my hair at work though. But I really don't care what people think about my hair at this point. I am not doing this for them. I love myself and my hair. Just needed to vent....
Okay, so I just ate a Marie Callender's pot pie, that I microwaved at work. And it was actually good. The silver liner in the box really helps keep the crust flaky. You couldn't even think about microwaving a pot pie back in the day. In the oven for an hour or more it goes. Who ever came up with the silver liner gets thumbs up from me. It's like magic.

I haven't done a wash & go in a long time for fear of extra tangles. I've also returned to controlling in it plaits or twists whenever I cowash or rinse. Sometimes I leave them for the entire process, sometimes I'll take them out to work on one section at a time.
