i've been feeling all zen about not PJing in recent years but lately I've been in a buying mood (mostly conditioners and hair toys)

yet i took a good look through the sink cabinet today & there's a lot of stuff there. more than i was really conscious of.

i've been getting stuff and filing it away not really using them. like a collection or something.

i think i'll see what's best in my stash before buying anything else.

I'm really noticing that the strand thickness & porosity is trumping curl size in importance.

I read a lot of sites and articles and it seems that being careful with fine hair is super important regardless of curl type.

My mom and my daughter are both threes (mom's curl is tighter than DDs) but I have to treat my daughter's hair more like mine (low manip, lots of moisture, braids, no sleeping on it loose etc) than like my mother's thicker- sized, less porous strands.

I hope I get this job. I've been really been on a buying hiatus and there are some things I want to try this summer. Especially Anita Grant stuff. Well, just a few things.

I really want to try Aphogee and henna. Which one to try first is the question...

UGH!!!!! Germs go away!
I started putting kinky twists in and they actually looked good Tooo bad I was to lazy to finish. O Well I just cornrowed my hair into a twisted ponytail that I set on rods.

Getting another degree while working 40-60 hrs a week SUCKS. I hate being so tired it hurts. Good thing that trouble dont last always. Yea I am getting encouraged already
i love my hair and nothing will change that.
but i did notice that now that i am natural, there is a massive decline in the men that approach me. not even the so called 'intelligent' and 'open minded' ones.
life doesn't revolve around men so i have kept that in mind and simply going about my business for the past eight months i've been a coily girl to keep my mind off of crap like that. but meeting and mingling is apart of life and as women we like to hook up sometimes. for some reason men do not approach me at all. what's up with that?

I do think that dating while natural and at shorter lengths is a great weeder! Quality over quantity! I liked men who could appreciate a variety of looks because I liked to change a lot.

When I read those "OH no, I BC'd & now my bf/dh is ignoring me/packing his suitcases!!" type posts, it drives me crazy!

I feel like saying "Good riddance to bad rubbish...Now you'll find someone with a brain!" but i don't.

You'll be fine. I think it's a good thing ultimately. I met my husband when I was natural and had medium-sized afro. My hair was shorter than it is now. I then BC'd after a bad bleaching job (Eve-inspired) while we were dating. He saw the messed up color, then the buzz cut that later i dyed black and nothing changed!

If the person is meant for you, then the hair isn't that deep.

I just want to say, I don't want to hear it when people say they can't be natural because they work out and sweat makes their hair revert. I am watching the NCAA regional women's softball playoffs and have been gratified to see a whole BUNCH of natural heads on the fields and in the stands (my fro was the biggest at UCLA last weekend. I am assuming that's why that one sista was staring at me for two games. Thinking positive...) There are several naturals playing for the University of Louisiana right now. That's all I have.

Looking at the fotkis of women with long and/or thick hair is inspiring and discouraging at the same time.

So I started wearing a wash n' go in April out of necessity (after my surgery, the exertion for a braid n' curl was not gonna happen!) But now I'm back to a braid n' curl for the moment. Let's hope it comes out big and bold--can't wait to see it in the morning!

Sixteen more days til I hit the big 3-5 ...I'm so excited!!! My 30s seem to get better every single year--let's see what the next year brings!

In my heart, I've finally let you go. She's everything that I'm not, and I've come to realize that hey, it's not a bad thing. If it was meant to be, it would've been...just that simple. So you go do you, and I'mma do ME, and we'll always be cool

Today makes one full year since my last relaxer!

Saturday it was so humid that I wished I could've taken my hair off like a helmet! I was THISCLOSE to doing a BC and cutting away all those months of progress. But instead...I just stuck my head under some cold water until I cooled off and the moment passed.

I don't remember exactly when I got my last relaxer. I know it had to have been 2006 but I really can't remember
*My hair seems happiest when treated like a jheri curl.

*I'm very thankful to be an at-home wife & mom because I can look crazy(er) more often with the treatments and baggies and such. I don't know what I'd do if I had to be 'presentable' all of the time. I guess I'd wear scarves and wraps.

*I'm Jewish too, so I guess I could wear sheitels (wigs)? However, my dh is not Jewish...Does that cancel out my sheitel-wearing rights?

*I spent the last two days looking at wigs online (stores and youtube tutorials). 'Still not sure I'f I'd ever have to guts to wear a wig-as-hairstyle rather than as part of a costume.

I prefer the frankly fake, anime/cosplay/goth/faerie colors than the whole taking-the-wig-too seriously... I think of it as the

Our Wigs, Ourselves* vibe.

I get annoyed with my cousin concerning her 2 yr old daughter's hair. She talks about how curly it is and hard to do sometimes. I offer her suggestions and products that may help but she brushes it off like she's not talking to someone with natural hair and knows exactly what she's going through. Does she think a child's natural hair is different than an adults? I just hope she does slap a relaxer in it when she gets school age.

I am 27 now and feel like I just turned 21 that means I feel like I have a lot of GOOD life ahead of me and the person that is going to be next to me during the good and bad has to be special. Even those people that come and go and are only supposed to be in my life for a season. I feel like the when the right MAN comes along he will adore me from head to toe. In the meantime I am obsessed with my hair and career. I wish I could already be where I want...anyway sistah keep up the faith and the natural!
