Yaaay!
A typhoon is coming, so I get to be off work early and play with my hair ALL DAY! Don't even have to be at work super early tomorrow. Thank you, Mother Nature, thank you.
#s/n- this is the most beautiful day, weather wise, we've had all summer. Balmy hot with awesome breezes blowing off both of the South China Sea and the Pacific. God, I love living on this island!

I almost had a perfect hair day. It feels amazing but the humidity shrunk my twist out. *sigh All that work. So much or second, third, fourth day hair.
O well.

OK, the typhoon SUCKED... It rained harder last week, and the wind blows harder when I fart. I was just stuck at home all day- I have bedsores and a hang-over. Worst. Typhoon. Party. Ever!!!
But at least my hair is cute....

Isn't it written someplace in the Product Junkie's Book of Rules that one "shall not try new products midweek"? That's all.

To h3ll with it...
Sheila dear, you're going in two strand twists next week. Tuesday or Wednesday. *holds hand up* Nope, no arguments. I've tried everything and you still won't behave. I'm fed up. Its either this or the scissors. *waits* That's what I thought.

I'm getting more free spirited with my hair as time progresses. I'm forcing 7 day wash n gos & making it work I kinda like it when my hair doesn't look perfect. I get more compliments when it doesn't too. Weird.

I just removed the most perfect specimen of hair from my head. Perfectly because it was (a) shed hair (b) the ends weren't damaged (c) no SSK's and (d) one strong heifer. Rock on hair, ROCK ON

Beauty Is Fleeting
So I spent over 2 hours last night prepping my hair for my first coil-out (wearing coils is not allowed in uniform, but coil-outs slide under the radar sometimes). At 5:00 this morning I arose to a a beautiful head of hair. Coils hanging, shining and popping all over the place. I showered, used the OCM on my face, and donned my uniform and prepared to face my adoring Marines looking fabulous. Gunny was looking good!
Then it happened... half-way to work I felt a tingle that I haven't felt in over a year,
I HAVE A COLDSORE ! So much for looking good. Off to buy some herp-a-way.

1. The lady in the new Design Essentials banner add is tempting me. Her fro is on point.
2. Is it wrong that I spent a looooong time in the cafeteria at worktoday, HOPING this lady would speak to me and say something about my hair, good or bad, so I could hip her. I am not a pushy natural but this lady is one of those ponytail-at-all-costs ladies and her pony was soooo thin and fragile, pulled back so tight her eyes were turned up with a row in the back with- just -scraggles hanging over her collar... I wanted to take her back to my desk and work it out. You know I have products here...I have to space out bringing them home, after all.
Thank you for letting me vent...My up-in-someone-else's-koolaid moment is over.

I wish more people would realize hair growth is genetic.
I have no idea what to do with my heat damaged front! UGH.

Where are Elle and Marah, our resident porosity experts?
I wonder if it's possible to overcondition coarse low porosity hair... I keep reading about the moisture/protein balance but it doesn't really go into enough details.

I think that moisture/protein balance has more to do with the texture of your hair, rather than porosity. I don't think I have ever over conditioned my hair, but my hair is mainly med/coarse, with only a few finer spots around my hairline. Funny you ask this question, because I was thinking about how many black women have fine hair, we just think it's coarse, and I had a few shed hairs in the shower and I started laughing b/c I was like yea this hair looks like it belongs in a rope...the only thing that counts as a PT for me is a CL treatment, because of the yogurt and amino acids.
Here are a couple of links though...I like that she tried moisture, then sealed the cuticle, then did a PT if all else failed. My hair on the top sometimes gets wavy, and when I do a CL they perk up - whether that's due to the protein, or the moisture I can get as a result of one...I can't say!

1- it irks me when people say they've been transitioning for 2 weeks. just say you've decided to transition, because what is 2 weeks, really?
2- I am the only transitioner in the world that has terrible braidouts and twistouts. my hair is 85% natural now but when I braid out or twist out, it's still limp like I have a relaxer! Why can other women do great ones when they're only 2-3 months into a transition and mine come out like bunk after over a year?
oh well. on the plus side, i bought my canadian products! can't wait to try.

my hair hate coconut oil but likes coconut milk
I don't get it (doesn't coconut milk contain protein?)
It took me 3.5 hours to twist my hair lol wowser
I haven't used shampoo in two weeks and my scalp doesn't have that itchy pin prickles feeling...interesting.
A co-worker called my fro "raggedy" and said some hastily done Color Purple-lookin twists were "beautiful" WHAT?! lol GTFOHWTBS
