I love my twistout cause it looks full and AWESOME! But I can't help but wonder.....why does it look like I have a mop sitting on my head?

Giiiiiiiiiiiiiirllllll she put it out there! Now I'm not commenting one whether I think what she said is true or not because I'm gonna keep my opinion to myself at this moment lol. But WOW. I DO know that sooooo many women are afraid of getting their hair trimmed, and it can't be for no reason at all...
Check out this video
YouTube - Good Hair In The Back ?!?!
It's her candid, immediate reaction after having her very first trim after her big chop and what transpired just moments prior in the stylist's chair. She's SOOO mad! (Her stylist was natural too!)

hahah I looove that Good Hair in Back clip. I've watched it a couple of times. I really feel for her and her husband and family. I know everyone was on eggshells after that.
yep, Shima is super hardcore there. FWIW, I think that the scissor happiness cuts across color & ethnicities too.
The one thing is that I've found that most AA stylists if the stylist is older than the client, there's a know-it-all attitude and they jsut won't listen to what the client wants sometimes. I've found that if you're closer in age it's better. maybe?
The clip makes me laugh too because my worse shearings and impromptu Big Chops have actually been self-administered\!
... I kinda hope some of Shima's scissor phobia rubs off on me. Lately I've been trying to well, cut back on cutting. I'll get my husband to trim it for me, unless somethings really getting on my nerves & I just don't want to wait. I keep promising myself that when most of my layers are grown out I'll take a break from frequent trims.
back to GHITB, that's part of my problem..my hair seems dead set on turning into a mullet...the nape is more curly than kinky and hangs differently, that's why I'm always clipping that area like crazy. . I'm trying to let my 'bad' hair catch up. j/k LOL!
I would have really wanted to strangle that stylist for saying that sort of mess... and to drag G-d into it? What an azz!

I feel you on the mullet. I rock one EVERYDAY. Do you also feel like you look crazy, like you don't know what decade you're in? I just keep telling myself that my nape is just heat damage and it's gonna coil up somethin FIERCE any day now. However, I think it may really be 3b hair back there. I'm not cutting it though!
Yes, put the scissors DOWN! Just think of that awkward growing out look as a rite of passage. I feel better knowing that everybody at one time or another has looked like this:

omg... i know i need to slack on cutting it but I just can't bear it esp if i'm wearing my hair out. I went about 5 months w/o cutting it last year but I was wearing a lot of braid out rolls. I'd braid set it all to stretch, then make a french roll or pin it up some other way.
When it's flat ironed it doesn't look quite as bad & mullety but with the wash n go, it's soooo irritating! My hair has been torturing me like this forever, so i should be used to it. In high school, I had a relaxed bob haircut that I loved & was trying desperately to maintain but the mullet kept trying to mess me up, I had my dad cutting the same area for me almost monthly, now it's my dh's job.
that section just wants to grow like crazy while the rest takes its sweet time.
The few times I've left it alone it literally looks like a sewn in hair extension track. It's in it's own like Bizarro world.
Maybe I need to transplant some of this stuff to my crown area?!

I big chopped about a month ago and i'm not sure if I'm not used to my hair texture or if my hair dry. Also, I'm not sure if I have a lot of frizz or if I still have relaxed strands left...

my hair is constantly amazing me, I guess a little growth can change up things a lot.
All I could do when it was long was bun, now my hair can look different hour by hour and that excites me.
Corny but nice.

My sister is like this; she just likes change. She can go from red hair, to blomde, to a fade, to locs in the span of a year. When I saw her December she had locs, I think they are gone now lol. Maybe you just like change too.

S curl is the shhhhh!!!!!
Mix that with some eco styler for a wash n go.. n bamm!!!
I have crazy looser hair at the back..that just wants to grow.. I swear it was midback length when the others were barely shoulder length before I had it cut.
Yeah she straightened my hair.. and now I'm nursing some poor traumatised strands back to health.. though the cut is lovely... It will be the last time I indulge in such a change! I don't care if the back is hanging down my neck.. I'll just keep pinning it up!

I think that is part of it..being fickle, loving novelty...
but then i've 'been there, done that' only w/ the relaxed hair. ...I've already got brown permanent drugstore dye(that didn't color evenly ) & black roots in my hair now so I really need to just go sit down somewhere. I wish I could get into wigs.
I've never tried S-curl bfore. hmm.
I also need to just sit down with the constant trim adjustments for a while. I'm not going to use any more high heat in the foreseeable future & I'm getting better w/ my conditioning regi.
I'll see if I can hang w/ the mulletude at least until Fall.

That is exactly what I did too! I just tried it to see what would happen. But it also gives me hold without gel. Presto, it's worth a try

I tried the pink Eco Styler gel, and I must say, it's a curly TWA's dream! I still love my olive oil gel, but I'll probably be saving that for when my hair is longer. Right now, in a TWA, I want something that's really gonna give my curls definition, and the pink gel's awesome!
