If loving Amodimethicone is wrong...I don't want to be right :)

Hola chicas! Alright Curlynikki has us confessing our sins so its my turn. I just recently jumped back onto the cone wagon as well. I heard that Herbal Essences had reformulated their conditioners to be cone free so to CVS I went. The HH has bis aminopropyl dimethicone in it which according to this site is a water soluble friendly cone so I picked it up and have been loving it since!
Also, Pantene's new Beautiful Lengths condish also has that same cone in it so I bought that to. My hair has been SO shiny and soft! I will use a clarifying shampoo every once in a while just in case. OK confession over!

ETA: back when I was relaxed, I used all kinds of sulfate shampoos and conditioners with cones and my hair was never dry, never broke off, was long and shiny. This was with frequent washing (3-4x a week), no added moisture or leave ins, brushing constantly, and relaxing every 6 weeks. I don't know how I did not go bald, but that is just a testament to the fact that what works for one doesn't work for all!

The moisture nourishing creme is in an 8oz tube with a flip top and is super duper thick (i heart super thick conditioners). Your sally's should have it. I haven't used the moisture treatment but once, so I can't determine if I like it better than the Hydrating Balm. I'll try alternating both weekly and do a moisture dt during the middle of the week with Tigi MM. I can't wait to try both of them out with EVOO and honey.

Curlymami- Girl the other day when I was scouring the city for the new L'oreal shampoo and conditioner, my mom was like "You JUST bought some! Why do need more?!" And I explained to her all the conditioner I had bought was for treatments, not daily use, as well as the pH balancing shampoo. And she just sighed and said "You're obsessed with shampoo and conditioner" To which I couldn't respond because it's true lol.

OMG! That means it's water soluble?! F*ckin A that's awesome! I love hello hydration. Also, could someone please try the Garnier Fructis 3 minute fortifying masque and the Hydra Curls conditioner? I was wanting to try these but I didn't realize the cones were water soluble. I mustn't buy anything else until my L'oreal is gone. lol. I will say this: I really like the poo.

It uses bis-aminopropyl dimethicone (about the middle of the ingredient list). I even co-wash with it, and my hair is A-okay.

Couple of my products have the a-cone, like Wen which I wash with and have no buildup. But I don't seek them out. Isn't the Pantene Relaxed and Natural what biracialhair.org chick uses? Or is it Hydrating curls?

I've been using HE conditioners (Hello Hydration and Dangerously Straight) for several months without any issues. I've used Devacurl OneC off and on for over a year and I've dibbled and dabbled in products that contain the -xane cone...and I have NOT used a SLS poo in over 2 years.

I wash weekly using a hydrating co-betaine poo. I just don't know about all of these "rules."
Currently using:

Poo: CON Sulfate Free poo
Rinse out: Tresemme Naturals
Leave-in: CJAOO Daily Cond
Styler: KCCC sparingly and Ampro Olive Oil Gel where needed
DT: KBB Lucious Locks Mask + EVOO/Avocado

Believe it or not. About two years ago White Rain used to make a knock-off to the Pantene Relaxed and Natural when it first hit the scene. That was way before the fancy new packaging that Pantene has today. The White Rain version was priced only at $1. I used to love this stuff so much that when I found out that White Rain was going to discontinue it, I wiped out the shelf at a local Walgreens. I finished up my last bottle of it recently. I wish I'd kept the bottle to make sure the ingredients are still the same. Usually, when a product line changes the packaging that could mean reformulation. I'll have to take a peek at the ingredients for the one you're using.

Okay....about Redken. The name is actually Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat....and girl! This stuff really makes my hair feel like butta! This is Redken's deep conditioner for very dry or unruly hair. Tames my frizzies like no other conditioner I've ever used. Butter treat is a very thick cream, packaged in a bottle. I found that a little goes a long way. Rinses out like silk! Just out of the shower before applying product I notice that the frizz is nearly gone. Product usage is less and no gel required. I've never noticed any build-up in my hair, but I think it's best used in moderation.

Key Ingredients
Macadamia Oil = helps nourish
Candelilla Wax = helps smooth
Cationic Refiners = frizz control
3c-4a; Protein Sensitive(forms of wheat, keratin, soy and anything "hydrolyzed"). My hair hates coconut oil and jojoba oil(sometimes).

SBB, I think she's using the Pantene in the bottle...the regular CO. I'm using the Deep Conditioning Mask...I think the regular co has a -xane. I'm experimenting solely with the a-cone...for now

Teshon, after looking at all the ingredients for Redken's SDBT, I see that they're pretty similar to the Pantene R&N Deep Conditioning Mask! I'm going to try it too, just to compare. I think my hair really likes the a-cone. So far so good...I feel you about using less products. After rinsing out the Pantene, I use much less WDT and Deva.

I need help in the detangling department and have been using Redken's All Soft and Pantene's Beautiful Legnths Conditioner for a while. I do use shampoo but its gentle and I dilute even that with water. I haven't noticed any buildup.

i have to agree. my hair definitely doesn't mind cones...it actually seems to *insert group gasp here* LIKE them. i never really fell off the cone bandwagon. i only shampoo/clarify when i use heavy duty cones (ex: when i straighten and use heat protectants) ; however, thats only about once, a MAXIMUM of twice a month.

other than that, i cowash daily and use fantasia IC gel. which i think has some cones in it anyway.

(is it just me or does admitting to cone-love feel like a weight lifted off my conscience )
Dancerxot, lol, it does bring about a sense of relief! When I confided in HeatherNicole earlier in the week about this very thing, I immediately felt like a weight had been lifted, lol. I really had been anti-cone since 2005...it wasn't until recently that I was like...well my hair seems to grow better when its somewhat straighter (roller set not w&g), so maybe it'll also maintain length with cones, like it use to. So far so good...I'll just keep an eye on it for a while, but my ends are happy and split free I am not, however, tangle free. The longer it gets the more I get.
The Blog: www.curlynikki.com

So i went to walmart last night and got bold as hell and bought the pantene relaxed n' natural conditioner and the hydrating curls one. I would have gotten the mask but they didn't have any.

I'm not too worried about buildup..i don't mind poo'ing so as long as it doesn't turn detrimental to my hair's health i'm good to go.

cones coat the hair shaft(which can be good, so for a few days i've been co-washing with free me freesia(cone free and a condish my hair reeally likes) and using a conditioner with a cone as a leave in(the idea being to seal in my moisturizing conditioner). lately its been the hydra gloss, but i've been using sleek and shine also. ladies, i havn't had dry ends in days!!

Okay so the Relaxed N' Natural conditioner was a BUST. I don't have to try it again to be sure, my hair wasn't feeling silky or easier to detangle or anything and i even left it on there for a lil. It felt soft after i rinsed it out, but i have other conditioners that do it too, matter fact it might have been the other con i put on top of it to give it more slip.

I am so tempted to get the Pantene mask, but I have too much product. I just got the Jessicurl WDT and haven't used it yet.

I wish it were as thick as Garnier Fructis conditioner but I still like it. I like this "sealing" method. I think I'll keep it around. when i went to target this weekend, i looked for relaxed and natural deep conditioning mask. they only had the regular pantene deep conditioning mask. since i didn't know the ingredients of either one, i just left it in the store. besides, it looked like i could use that lil ole jar in one conditioning treatment.

my hair "sin" is that i still use good old fashioned mineral oil hair grease. my hair has never had a problem with grease, in fact it thrived. the only reason i won't buy anymore is because homemade curly pudding is so much more moisturizing and not as heavy as grease.
