Talking Qhemet: Honeybush tea soft hold gel

Has anyone used the honeybush tea soft hold gel for a wash and go? If so, how was your experiences?

I am new to wash and go's; I have never done one before. I hate having hard hair.. thats why ?I dont use my KCCC that often.

3c/4a hair (with random straight hairs)

if your hair is thick and requires something with more heft and hold, you'd have to use the gel and something else. i use the gel and the AOHC together.

Thumbs up

oh ok. Thank you.

I just posted a profile picture. Its from like April 5th. So its fairly recent..my hair changes per month lol.

I haven't ordered the HB gel yet because I was gaging its usefulness since 2 oz would not be enough to try it on my thick hair more than once.

I don't think HB Hair Tea would work too well on thick hair, like Empress said. It can be good for providing softness, but if your hair is super thick, it won't do much to define or provide "hold". You might want something heavier for that. Fantasia IC gel is a pretty heavy (and readily available) gel that is good for thick hair. You said you have KCCC - that's good, too. You could also try pure aloe vera gel (which you can get from a health food store).

I tried the dietary aloe vera gel... bad idea. I know Lily of the desert makes a thicker verison thats is made for hair.

My hair isnt really thick but its just highly populated. I can feel my scalp with ease, actually you can see my scalp if my hair isn't frizzy. In this TN humity it gets frizzy. I doesnt even stand up on its own.

Sounds similar to my hair! My strands aren't thick, but I have a *lot* of them. If I'm using gel, I use KCCC, jojoba jelly (AV gel, jojoba oil, glycerin), or Fantasia Olive Gel (green jar). Curl activator gel and Ecostyler gel were no-no's for my hair, but work for many others. I'm actually experimenting with gel-free hair these days...so far, so good.

yep. my hair is thick, BUT ive found that the gel works VERY well in refreshing styles! like if you had something with hold in it and you want to refresh your hair a bit you can scrunch some of the gel into it. i actually retwist my twist outs with the honeybush tea gel, it works sooooooo perfectly for that.

Would it be better if I tried the Honeybush and added a little kccc if I needed more hold. --the kccc is jsut sitting on my dresser anyway.

You mean you wash your hair every day or you just dampen it? I only use gel on shampoo or cowash days (2-3 times per week). On the other days, I just take a shower without a shower cap - the steam/spray from the shower fluffs up my curls. I don't have to add more gel. I've done this with both KCCC and Fantasia, with great results.

I use my veg glycerin spritz or juicies and berries. I have to deep condition my hair everytime i wash or nothing works. I has to reach a a saturation level.

i bought it and i did not get any results from it. At all. Nothing. It was for me a waste of money. I'll stick to other styling products although i am a huge fan of qhemets moisturizers

I like it in the summer. Used up my jar this summer in fact. Worked well in the extreme humidity and rain in June.

My April-July album has some photos - check the captions for Honeybush combos.

honeybush gel mixed with KCCC is a wonderful combination! if you have both and don't like either, try mixing together and applying over a leave-in.

this is one of my favorite combinations.

my other one is KCCC mixed komaza coco pudding.

I use the Honeybush Gel under Ecostyler. On its own, it didn't given me any hold but combined with Ecostyler it was great.
