Default white residue

i love the way my hair feels leaving the conditioner in, but i always get a wierd white residue after i plop and put in my gel. its not like...globs, its more like little white flakes of conditioner coating. is there any way to avoid this?

yeah, some gels and conditioners dont mix well and will either leave white residue or white hair boogers. what conditioner do you use?

i was using suave naturals in ocean breeze, but i'm switching back to v05 fresia; suave wasn't moisturizing enough for me. i havent tried plopping or leaving v05 on, so i'll see how it goes in the morning...

This is the most frustrating thing ever. I love the weight that it gives, but I look like Fredrick Douglas (or any grey-haired person you may know) for hours! I end up putting the product in at night(sometimes lighly wetting, adding product, then putting on shower cap), then reweting with a spray bottle and adding gel in the morning. Eluence works pretty well, and when my hair is cleaner the grayness seems to disapear faster.

I have a similar issue. Could it be the build up from cones in the products, maybe?

It sounds like the two products are clashing. One of them has to be replaced.

Before applying any product combo to your hair, test it in your hand. If the mixture looks like cottage cheese, it will do the same thing in your hair.

Not necessarily. My hair also has a sort of film on it if I leave in a V05 or Suave conditioner (but not flakes), but it loves having Elucence conditioner left in it. Go figure. When was the last time you clarified your hair? What type of gel are you using? Like others have said, some conditioners just don't pair well with certian gels, and vice versa.

Default HELP!

I had this happen to me this week and I didn't know what to do! I had just clarified and deep conditioned so I don't think it was product build up. And I used the same products in the same sequence so...WTH?? I tried to pick the white specks out but they were everywhere.

So should I switch up products?
Co-wash: Trader Joe's Nourish Spa
Leave-in: Sheamoisture or Giovanni
Gel: Fantasia and Aloe vera gel
Then I plop

i clarified like a week or two ago and here are my products.

condish: V05 free me fresia
gel: fantasia IC gel with sparklites.
leave in: hollywood beauty olive oil creme hairdress.

i apply my leave in at night; so most of it is rinsed out before i even cowash in the morning. i do a thorough rinse of my hair, almost washing it with water, then add conditioner and such.

I've never tried the Hollywood Beauty products, but maybe the leave-in just doesn't react well with the gel. Fantasia gel is pretty compatible with most products I've used, though. You might just have to keep experimenting to find a product combo that works for you.

Default White Flakes...

I'm having this same issue...as far as finding white flakes after leaving NON leave-in conditioner in your hair after washing. I see SO many YouTube videos of girls doing wash and go's using such conditioners as Suave Naturals, Aussie Moist, etc., as their leave-in and they never have ANY white residue. Boggles my mind!

I seem to get the same problem while using Shea Moisture products. Last night i twisted my hair before bed with Shea Moisture Restorative conditioner and their curl and style milk and the next morning I had white stuff in my hair. This isn't the first time i've had this experience with their products, the first time it was the curl enhancing smoothie and every time i used it I was left with curls and white flakes.
