Your story almost reminds me of that one episode of Living Single, when Kyle's black boss told him he should cut his hair if he wanted to get the promotion, you know, thinking that would help him, but inevitably the other bosses didn't really care about his hair...

I'm sure he THOUGHT he was helping you, maybe he's never met black women that actually LIKE their hair in its natural texture. I mean, to be honest besides myself and CNikki, I don't know anyone that actually tries to work with their natural texture, and hell, I JUST stopped pressing my hair a few weeks ago! Eveybody else I know is down with that chemical fire cream ... oops, I guess I been on NP too long

Dont even sweat that dude, and keep it moving. Sometimes it's best to leave the ignorant ones alone for a while

There are alot of ppl here that compliment my hair! One blk guy even told me he wished his wife would do the same for herself and their daughter (no flirty type stuff)... So their young daughter (6) would have that "Black is beautiful" attitude!

Anywho... we say just about anything in this office, so I just took it with a grain of salt, and ignored him. I was just annoyed that he said it infront of the white guy.. when he was one of the main ppl who complimented my hair when I was new! Alot of white people already think we cant grow long hair, and wear weaves, why would u feed that?

Start documenting what's happening to you. Type it up and keep it at home (not at work) -- dates, exact situations, anyone who was present at the time these comments were made. You never know... you might need to present it one day. If he said things like this to you, what are the chances he said it to someone else (pretty high, I would guess)?
