2 Strand Twists-What do you use?

This weekend I am planning my first 2 strand twists!!! I was wondering what products I could use to do them. I was planning on doing them wet. Could I use KCCC, Curls whipped cream, Aubrey Organics B5 or Mandarin, or maybe just some conditioner? These are things I already own. Don't want to buy anthing else.

What do you use, especially if your hair loves creams/butters, like mine? Or does it even matter because you are twisting it up?

I've only ever twisted/untwisted with Miss Jessies Curly Pudding. The twists come out really soft to the touch and they stay that way for some time (unless you run/sweat). Because I do run, I used to moisturize with Miss Jessies Baby Buttercream. But I can still keep the twistouts for about 2 weeks with a little bit of touchup/ retwisting every few days. I've only ever twisted out while my hair was wet. I usually have to let it dry overnight because my hair takes FOREVER to dry. I don't think my twistouts would last very long if I blowdried first (and I certainly can NOT do it if my hair just dries naturally because it WILL NOT move/separate/etc. without some serious moisture assistance).

I make a gel out flax seeds and aloe vera gel with jojoba and jamaican black castor oil. My hair turns out nice and soft with lasting twist.HTH

ETA: I twist on dry hair.

i've tried twists with curls whipped cream which was o.k. i did not like the twists i did with KCCC....came out too flaky...although strange enough, KCCC never flakes for my wash and go's. i've also done twists with AOMM....which was fine. my best twists were with Miss Jessie's but I stopped using those products.

A hair cream and gel or gel~ish product should yield good twists. Try it!

Yeah, definitely make sure that you moisturize your hair properly first so that your twists can stay soft and your twistsouts even softer. Then a gel will add a nice polish, hold, and minimize frizz. However, the less product the better, so I would stick to just moisture then a finisher (gel, shine serum, defrizzant etc). As far as posting pics, You can click on "User CP" when you go to your profile (It's on the top left hand side of the orange toolbar) and enter in a link to a picture that you have. I usually just upload a picture to picoodle.com and I set the page on private so that no one will see it but me (It is a public webspace). I use that page as a link for avatars so that the pic will automatically show in my avi. I don't have it for this website yet. You could also jut get a fotki

Hi there,

I have been wearing a twist out this week. I was wondering if I should re-twist my hair at night or not. What do you do? I'm open to suggestions how to keep the twist out style looking good.

I used leave in conditioner and castor oil to keep them together the first time,the second time i used leave in and long aid curl activator,I liked them both but my hair was softer with the castor oil combo,good luck

I use everything in my signature - but I release my twists right after drying. Not simple recipe but it's lasting.

On days 4, 5 and 6 I usually twist in 6 large twists using Qhemet cream on the ends. Comes out great.

I agree with this. I hated the twists with KCCC. I typically use shea butter and aloe vera gel.

Ditto. I would substitute aloe vera for KCCC. I'd save your expensive KCCC for wash-n-gos.
