Any Inexpensive Alternatives to Kinky Curly Curling Custard?

I'm johnny come lately, but I just discovered cantu shea butter leave-in. Wow it works just like kinky curly and is only 7 bucks. I even added some jojoba and castor oil to try to make it more moisturizing for my hair. Well that didn't work. So this morning I raked thru my hair and my curls are just like kinky curly w/o the crunch. Only problem is that sometimes it flakes in the hair.
I haven't found anything comparable to the elongation, shine, definition, and mositure KCCC offers me. It's a unique product. Inexpensive gels that I use when I don't use KCCC are:

Aubrey Organics Mandarin Magic - a good gel but doesn't provide me great hold. It makes my hair very undefined with continued use. I think it is the Panthenol.

Fantasia IC gel - a nice gel but not very good hold and gave me the "dry greasies" (My hair feeling greasy and dry) at the end of the day. I think it was the glycerin. If I was in a more humid climate I would proably like the gel more.

Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
I don't know if anyone has tried this with all 4b hair but I have 4a mostly with some 4b in the back and it worked like a dream. MiraCurl Curling Gelly by Beauty by Donna Marie http://www.beautybydonnamarie.com

I did a youtube video on my application if it helps. This stuff has replaced the Kinky Curly for me because it is cheaper. $19.99 to be exact so I don't know if that is an ok price point for you but if it is please check it out!! Hope it helps!!

I really do try with the KCCC but when my hair dries it is hard and crunchy and feels unmositurized. Has anyone had success layering KCCC with other moisturizers. I use the Knot Today with it, but my hair still feels like a curly brillo pad after.

I remember one time I did an oil rinse before applying the product and I had the little white clumps everywhere. Are there any products that play well with this or will I have to put my tub on the swap board? I really want to like gels and specifically KCCC, but I cant deal with the overly dry hair result.
Over 10 years natural and still growing...

Hair Type: A collection of incredibly dense, gravity-defying very defined coffee-stirrer diameter coils. I am currently exclusively wearing wash-and gos.

Products
:Curl Junkie Daily Fix Cleansing Conditioner (low-poo), Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner, Grapeseed Oil, KCCC or Ecostyler Gel (stylers)

I always hear the Krystal Ecostyler Gel is very similar to KCCC. That's why I purchased it! But I've never used KCCC so I can't compare.. Ecostyler always gives me fantastic results though! bonus: it's like 3$
I love the fantastic hold it has BUT the price is a wallet killer, im searching for a less expensive alternative. I love this stuff I would buy it again if the price was on sale or something, I just bought the spiral spritz no idea if it will work so i will try it and as for the knot today that im supposed to use with it.....

I never use it. I use the knot today to detangle and thats it

Kiss My Face Upper Management works very well as a substitute for some people.

I love her products. My fav is the Curl Sealer.
Is there another styling gel besides Kinky Curly Curling Custard out there that does not contain ANY glycerin?

I make my own flaxseed gel. The consistency is not very gel like, its a bit looser than KCCC, and for me, offers the same results ( I do miss the marshmellowy goodness of the KCCC though), and its quite economical.

The CS is a few dollars cheaper at Target. But the results are not nearly as nice. I tried it for the first time yesterday. My hair is actually still wet. Normally, at least with KCCC by the time I wake up in the morning its dry. The jury is still out on this one.
