Any Inexpensive Alternatives to Kinky Curly Curling Custard?

People with very dense [4-z] hair rave about this product, but it is a bit pricey. Are there any budget friendly alternative products that work just as well if not better than this one on very dense kinky hair?

Thanks!
super kinky hair
I doubt it, otherwise I would be running to it The only thing that comes a little close is Garnier Fructis soft curl creme, however the difference is that it's not all natural and tends to build up if used everyday, unlike Curling Custard. The Custard is soooo worth it. I've had the same jar since August(however, I don't use it everyday).
ditto on the soft curl creme. i am still trnsitioning and haven't used it myself, but my cousin uses it religiously!

I also am hearing good things about blended beauty styling lotion.

But, if you're on a tight budget, then I'd go with the garnier soft curling creme or maybe long-aid curl activator!
[transitioning from relaxed hair since June'05]

Fuzzy, cottony coils very kinky tightly curled hair
with relaxed ends.

To date; 10-12 inches of relaxed hair with another 4inches of natural hair
nothing i've used is a decent alternative but it does last so long cause you just mix in a drop with your leave-in conditioner i probably use a ratio of like 1/8 curling custard to whatever leave-in i use if you use more it's too firm
What is this stuff supposed to do for your hair? Your hair is already curly if it is 4b right?
4b hair is more like a tight zigzag wave than a curl. the curling custard kind of clumps the hair for more definition so you can see the curl which you won't if your strands stay separate. if 4b hair stays separate it looks like a fro but is sometimes more spiky looking than say 4a or 3c. what do people think of the custards by long lovely locks or curly q. oh, and blended beauty frizz pudding. i think they are slightly cheaper than kinky curly.
pink shortlooks gel gives the exact results.
loose 4a, silky meets cottony
routine: co-wash, add leave in or plain water, shake & go
staples: elucence poo & conditioners, V05 & suave naturals, jessicurl too shea, AO.
pink shortlooks gel gives the exact results.

The Curling Custard is really worth it as pizaz said earlier.
The garnier curl cream and fantasia IC work well and I have gotten good results but the health of my hair sufferered - with the CurlinG Custard my hair never feels dry and or brittle.

Thick coarse 4b hair. Holy Grail: Kinky-Curly Curling Custard. Trying to grow it to bra strap length. Currently collar bone length.
Please try Taliah Waajid Crincles and curls: http://www.blackearthproducts.com/pr...l.php?prod=011

I dunno why her product are so unknown. I love her Black earth shampoo, conditioner and Crincles and Curls lotion. It really forms my coils and moisturizes them, it gives great hold and it wont leave your hair hard and crunchy like Fatasia gel. It also wont give you a jerri Curl look, just a natural look.

Ingredients
Distilled Water, Silk Protein, Copolymer, DM Hydontain Aloe Extract, Ground Indian Hemp, Wheat Germ, Apple Cove Extract, Herbal Fragrance, MEA

I agree that the KC Curling Custard is worth the splurge - predictably good results and a tub of this stuff will last forever.

As for cheaper alternatives, I find that watered down IC Fantasia gel, or Fantasia gel mixed with coconut oil, has a consistency similar to the KC CC and gives pretty good results.

For those who use KCCC, what do you do for second day hair. When i use this stuff i love the results, but it seems like I have to wash it out the next day. I've tried to "rinse" or CW but it won't come out? Any suggestions?

I usually spray some Spiral Spritz on the frizzy areas and go.
The Spiral Spritz re-wets and re-activates it and gives it a little more hold so that it does not frizz up.

I haven't had much success with second day hair, mainly because I either work out and mess it up and sleep on my hair funny and it poofs out like CRAZY. I have some Fekkai Wave Spray that I tried to use to re-activate, but my hair always seemed dry. I get the best results with fresh hair, but my jar is going quickly! It's already half gone about and I've only had it for two weeks! Any suggestions?
Kiss My Face Upper Management gel is EXACTLY the same as KCCC...texture wise and results. You can find it at most organic markets and whole foods carries it too.

For those of you who love KCCC how are you using it. I have tried it and it was not working out for me. It gave me the jeri curl look and took 4ever to dry. I placed the Knot today under it and everything.
*Been natural all my life, and still finding out ways to make it better.*
*Hair type- 4b/4a
*Hair regimen- Still not sure

You don't need to use a lot of it and I get 2nd, 3rd, and 4th day hair from it. I could get up to 7 day hair if I wanted but I like to cowash before then. The only time I've had it take forever to dry was the 2nd time I used it when I somehow used a ton of it on my hair. Otherwise, it takes no longer to dry than any other product I've used.

I know she just raised her prices and unless I find an alternative, I'll probably continue to use it. My bigger fear is not being able to find it in stock anywhere when I need it as I know she constantly has issues with keeping it in stock and that more than anything is the reason I keep looking for an alternative.

For the most part, I apply as in CoilsKinksCurls video.

I haven't found anything comparable to the elongation, shine, definition, and mositure KCCC offers me. It's a unique product. Inexpensive gels that I use when I don't use KCCC are:

Aubrey Organics Mandarin Magic - a good gel but doesn't provide me great hold. It makes my hair very undefined with continued use. I think it is the Panthenol.

Fantasia IC gel - a nice gel but not very good hold and gave me the "dry greasies" (My hair feeling greasy and dry) at the end of the day. I think it was the glycerin. If I was in a more humid climate I would proably like the gel more.
4a/b Texlaxed hair w/ highlights. Medium texture & high porosity.

HG's: CJ Daily Fix, Bobeam Cheris Hibiscus shampoo bar, KC Spiral Spritz, Knot Today, CJ Rehab, KBB LL Hair Mask, Cassia, KCCC, oil blend of Avocado, Camellia, Jojoba, & Meadowfoam oils
