Default Long Aid Activator Gel

I saw that honeycomb uses this w/ a leave in. Does anyone else use this too?

Hi Lornae, I love Long Aid, I don't use the leave-in anymore because it's loaded with cones and I'm leaving them alone. I am surprised that not many naturals use it. It's cheap, very moisturizing, and it comes in a really big jar that lasts me for a couple of month at the least.

I just read the Walgreens reviews and I see that it received 5 stars and I agree with just about everything that was said in the reviews. You can also get it at Walmart.

That's another great thing about this gel is that the tub is hugh, so you're getting your money's worth, and it does great things for your hair.

^^ncc I crossed over from smooth n shine. it works pretty much the same, I find you get more of a "producty" feel from the smooth n shine. I'm heavy handed though, so ymmv.

Honeycomb,

Just curious, but what do you use this product for (i.e., fingerstyling, coils, twists, etc.)? Further, when your hair is fully dried, how does this product feel? My apologies for all of the questions, but I'm curious as to how this 'jheri curl' product will act in my natural 4a hair.

Hi Candy, I use it for everything that you mentioned. When your hair is fully dry, it leaves your hair soft to the touch, never hard. You do have to be careful and not use too much or you'll get a greasy feel. But it will not give you a drippy "jheri curl" feel that some activator give. HTH.

Honeycomb,

Thanks again for the feedback here. Quick Question: Are you using anything underneath this activator gel when styling your hair? I noticed that you had mentioned that you are no longer using your leave-in...so just curious how I should work this, because I plan on getting some this gel tonight.

No, I use nothing underneath as of now. I am looking for a liquidy leave-in, cone-free, that I can use with it. But since I left my Biotera leave-in alone, I use the long aid solo.

I am a fan of long aid, too. However, you can not use much and if I use it with certain conditioners I get white balls, so I use it alone and spritz with water when needed.
