Default WoW!!! This is the true essence of Kinks, Coils and Corkscrews...

Ok, so last night I fell asleep watching HBO. However, when I woke up in the middle of the night, the "Black List" was on. Out of curiosity, I watched it. They spoke to 20 black people, including, Toni Morrison, Zane (the writer), Al Sharpton, Chris Rock, Dawn Stanley, Serena Williams, Splash (KISS band), Russell Simmons, Lou Gossett, Lorona Simpson; just to name a few. When Lorna Simpson was interviewed, ah, she was amazing, but aside from that, her hair was breathe taking.... I made my self jot her name down in my notebook so that I didn't forget and she becomes a figment of my imagination. I knew that you guys would appreciate this just as I do and did... Take a look-

I was so upset that I missed this series(I forget about them even to just record them), but glad there is a website to read about it. Her hair looks so healthy! It's so shiny, and not in that "there is a bunch of oil on it" way. I just read the small article about this series in People Magazine. I always liked Slash's hair, didn't know he was mixed either.

Wow, her hair is really pretty.

On Slash--I knew he was partially black (multi-ethnic) but I didn't realize he was directly half black, honestly. I also didn't know he considered himself "black," as opposed to sort of "racially ambiguous." His hair has always been gorgeous to me though.

You know...i knew he was mixed also, but I didn't think he considered himself black. I also didn't know his mother was black. I figured that his father was black and he grew up with his white mother and identified as such. very interesting!

Her hair is just beautiful! I would love to know what she uses too.

Someone once told me that Slash was a big racist, so this really came as a big surprise to me that he is half black. I don't know where that person who told me that came up with that information. He does have beautiful hair. I am jealous of his length.

I saw some of this.

Maybe they thought he was racist b/c of that song he was talking about and they didn't know he hadn't written it.

I knew Slash was black, though I had heard his mom was Jamaican, not African American. I hadn't always known that, though (maybe in the late 90s I found out) so when I heard it I thought to myself, I wonder if that was why he always used to have his hair in his face like that, to make his features less apparent.

Back in the 80s I bet that would have really affected the popularity of the band if its lead guitarist was black, given their typical audience. Fast forward 20 years and I just cringe at the bile some Metallica fans aim at their Mexican bassist, far less back then.

Of course people are gonna think you're racist if you're in a band coming out w/songs like this. He coulda said something before they put that song out, but it just kinda shows the position he was in being in that band, in that time:

Quote:
Guess I needed
Sometime to get away
I needed some peace of mind
Some peace of mind that'll stay
So I thumbed it
Down to sixth and L.A.
Maybe your greyhound
Could be my way
Police and ******s
That's right
Get out of my way
Don't need to buy none of your
Goldchains today
I don't need no bracelets
Clamped in front of my back
Just need my ticket till then
Won't you cut me some slack

Chorus:

You're one in a million
Yeah, that's what you are
You're one in a million, babe
You are a shooting star
Maybe someday we'll see you
Before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you
But you were much to high
Much to high
Much to high
Much to high

Immigrants and ***gots
They make no sense to me
They come to our country
And think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini Iran
Or spread some ****ing disease
They talk so many goddamn ways
It's all greek to me
Well some say I'm lazy
And others say that's just me
Some say I'm crazy
I guess I'll always be
But it's been such a long time
Since I knew right from wrong
It's all the means to an end, I,
I keep on movin' along

Chorus

Radicals and racists
Don't point your finger at me
I'm a small town white boy
Just tryin' to make ends meet
Don't need your religion
Don't watch that much TV
Just makin' my livin', baby,
Well that's enough for me
FYI, I bolded that last bit 'cause it don't make no kinda sense to me. Axl Rose has *been* a mess though. Look at that "Chinese Democracy" album that he's been announcing the release of every six months for the last 10 or whatever years, like something out of a bad joke.

Yeah, he's pretty much an idiot! The entire song makes no sense to me.

Lorna Simpson hair is beautiful, but just as beautiful is Suzan Lori Parks dreadlocks. Long and well-kept. I wonder, is it easier to grow 4a/b hair this long in dreadlocks versus natural without locs?

I think so, especially since the curlier your hair is the more breakage prone it is. With locs you get to keep all the broken and shed hairs which adds to length. An d then there's the low manipulation factor. I've seen a couple of fotkis (don't remember the names, sorry) of women who have detangled their locs and kept a surprising amount of the length.
