Way beyond my expectations...

I am still in high school and recently went natural, doing a BC and having transitioned for only 5 months. I went into the whole process expecting some rude and painfully ignorant comments. Despite these expectations I have been getting so much positive feedback. I attend a private school that is mostly white and since it was my first day back to school I was expecting more of a "ooo u cut your hair wow" than what I actually got. So many kids and teachers even those I rarely talk to and guys were saying how much they liked my cut. I am so happy and learned that I should have way more optimism about my natural journey (although I myself LOVE my hair)

Side note: I was walking down the block from my house and my old guy neighbor complimented me on my hair and suggested I try fingerwaves!!! LMAO

I wish I could've found the strength and cut in highschool, but without sites like this I would've been lost. I know that going natural is a personal decision, and has nothing to do with the opinions of others, but doesn't it feel good when others see the same beauty that you see in your hair?
congrats on your BC, when I did mine I had mainly positive reactions as well. The only real down side for me is that people would keep trying to run thier fingers through my hair. I spent the first few months ducking and dodging the hands of friends and family members.

After I had gone natural a very beautiful friend of mine had done the same. The reactions she recived were mainly negative though. I think it has alot to do with how a person percieves themselves, she was embarased by her kinky hair and was nervously following a trend but I loved mine and wore it with confidence. People really pick up on things like that and that's how they decide who to belittle and which insecurities to prey on. She eventually texturized (pretending it was still natural) and then relaxed again. When you truly embrace any aspect of who you really are it inspires people, but it usually requires a bit of an emotional and mental journey to get to that place.
Congratulations on your BC. When I decided to go natural, I really didn't even transition; I maybe did for like all of 2 months. Then when I BC'd, I cut all of my hair off. I got a lot of compliments on it and that boosted my confidence even more. When you have positive reinforcement, it makes you hold your head up even higher.

Congratulations on your BC!
