Default If You Found Your Holy Grail Product...

...would you stop shopping around?

I've been thinking about this lately. I have yet to find the perfect products for my hair. There are many products I like a lot, but none that I wouldn't willingly part with if something else seemed more promising, LOL. But then I was just thinking, even if I did find my HG products, I still don't think I would stop shopping around, because it's just too much fun trying out new things.

What about you?

I still experiment, cause you never know! Plus I don't want my hair to get so used to something it stops working.

I guess Im a simple person. If I find products that work on my hair I def. stick to them. My "staple" products usually last me about 3 months before have to go looking for something else. My hair becomes acclimated rather quickly

I've found my HG but I still try new things. I didn't for a while b/c I could get my HG locally. I try new things especially for my cowash and dt. I still go back to old trusty.

I'm still in search of products that my hair really likes. I think that I may have found something that actually works for me, but I'm going to try it again just to make sure. When I find something that will work for me, I will stick to that product until it no longer works for me anymore.

ive been using my HG product for years now (elucence mb conditioner). on occasion i'll try a new product and ive found that im either disappointed that i wasted my money, which happens more often than not or i use it in conjunuction with my elucence. curiosity gets to you sometimes and its hard not to try a product that everyone raves about.

My problem is I get greedy. I find something that works great and then i see something else and buy it because im hoping it will work even better. I keep doing this until i forget what my HG is. NO MORE! The next time i find something i love, im sticking to it.

I stick with:

JC WDT
TIGI MM
Qhemet(OHHB, HBTG)
.....and now Karen's BB Hair Nectar!

products that I've experimented with this month:

B2B Jasmine

DevaCare OC

DevaCurl OC-absolute trash!

Hair Rules Shampoo

Oyin Honeywash

Giovanni 50:50 Shampoo

Giovanni Smooth As Silk Deep Moisture Shampoo

CBSS WSHP-which is pretty good, but next time I won't order brown sugar. It smells really sweet and the scent lingers. Oh...and it works really well with Qhem's stuff!

I don't have a HG per se. I do really like the products listed above, but for different reasons. With that concept in mind, I could have several products under my bathroom sink that perform a different function. A HG to me is a product that does everything you want it to do. Most of the products I use work well but are not "all-in-one" products for me. Each one of them lacks something. That being said, I think this is why I still experiment. Although, I've found products that work well, I'm still in search of that all-in-one product that I may never find. Lol! It is indeed fun, but can also be expensive. Whether or not you're pleased with the outcome is the chance you take.

There are times when it feels good to search and test and there are times when it feels good to just know that you have great products that are giving you great results.

If I found my HG I would continue experimenting, but on a smaller scale. Right now, in most categories, I have a few staple products that I am happy with, but every now and again (maybe every 1-2 months) I'll try something new. I tend to have less novelty flops than I did in the beginning when I didn't know what my hair really liked/needed, so my experimenting is more precise. Anyway, my hair is whimsical so it's good to have a backup to my backup.

I would most likely keep looking. I’m an absolute PJ and if I found my HG I would still be wondering if there is something out there that is better than that, lol. Wow, sounds weird now that I wrote it down. Need to work on my PJness.

I second that! Just going to Target brightens my day. I would definitely keep shopping around.

Oh my goodness, I am so there!! I couldn't agree with you more!! I too, figure I will probably never find my true HG - one that does it all. It is crazy expensive looking for the one almighty product, but it's also lots of fun looking. And the chance I take to hopefully be pleased with the outcome is a total toss of the dice. BUT all these things add to the thrill, I guess - so I'll keep doing it.

*daydreams*
Wouldn't it be lovely if I could just sit back and let you ladies be the guinea pigs and just learn from your hair mistakes....

Although I take the advice of a lot of curlies on this site the fact remains that my hair is MY hair. It has an attitude and may not like the same product two days in a row let alone a carbon copy regime of another curlylady! Besides, I gotta spend my money on sumthin! lol

For months, I will use the same things consistently. I rarely try new stuff anymore, but I will dibble and dabble here and there.
