So... 4a/b's What did you do to your hair today?

Like Tree1286Likes

So...I asked my mom for an InStyler for Christmas. It came early so I figured it was only right I test it to see if it was worth keeping.

I washed last night with Silicon Mix Bamboo Shampoo, followed up with the Silicon Mix Bamboo Conditioner. Garnier Fructic Sleek and Shine Leave In before braiding with a dab of NjoiCreations Ayurvedic Butter.

This morning I took my braids down and added alittle Smooth 'N Shine Silk 'N Sleek Heat Protect Straighten Polish before heading to the laundromat. Came back and did this...

I will say I'm impressed. I don't get great results when flat ironing and I usually have to blow dry my hair then flat iron to get decent results. I used the InStyler on air dried hair. I will have to play with a bit more but I can see using this sometime. Other than that, I'm surprised at how much hair is on my head. I don't think its been this full since college. It's definitely grown since I flat ironned in March.

Last night, detangled in shower while rinsing out pre-poo (DB deep conditioning mask). Saturated hair with Aussie moist and detangled again under shower. Rinsed and used Hairveda Acai condish as leave-in. Smoothed back into a pony with DB pomade. Slept with bandana to control edges...

So busy, no time for styling...

You need something to provide some hold. Try a gel or gelly type product.[/QU

I usually use a cream or butter so I will try a gel and see if it works. My main issue is the ends. They are either frizzy or sort of loose. I do the usual twist and curl when I get to end of the twist but when I untwist, they inevitably look unfinished whcich make styling a problem.

today I co-washed my hair with com CUSH Cosmetics Uncoiled conditioning detangler. That product was a waste of money along with the sample pack i purchased from them. ANYWAYS.......

after I co-washed I used my fake denman(lol) to apply some Sweet Ohm Hair Pudding through my hair. I Love that stuff. Why oh Why will they not just make some more. I have about 2 oz. left in my jar and I am dreading having to use it before it goes bad. I will hold on to it as long as I can...UUGGGGHHHH...Just make some more. Dang!!!!

Cowashed with Aussie moist (this stuff is the best instant conditioner I have) while finger detangling. Used QB BRBC (also, I'ma need the date of the sale, QB let a sis know please!) and sealed with EVCO. Put in a pony again...

I think this pony business is becoming too addictive because of ease. Too many ponytails creates tension on the edges and the hair directly in contact with the band, right? Breakage?

Jumped in the shower and detangled with conditioner and coconut oil. Then rinsed, added castor oil + kuza indian hemp + heat protectant and blow dried on cool. Left it a bit damp, plaited in sections and wrapped with a headscarf then went about my day.

Attempted Bantu knots - hair still too short. Did some medium twists Oyin J&B spritz, QB CTDG detangle/condition, AHTB to twist, with AOHC on the ends of each twist. They are lush! I love the products and I LOVE my hair.
Watched loads of anime while twisting.
My hair is in the 4s, low in porosity, high in density and coarse.

Love: QB - all of it, Bobeam - shampoo bars, Darcy's Botanicals - Pumpkin Seed Conditioner, Coconut Cupuacu Pomade, KBN - Shealoe Leave-in, Oyin - Juices & Berries, Kinky Curly - Knot Today, Ayurvedic treatments, my Denman and the cloud of kinky goodness on my head that I get to play with!

Only if you do them too tightly, brush our edges into oblivion, use breakage-friendly hair bands (ones with metal connectors or rubber bands) and are reckless putting in/taking down the style.

In other words--If you're careful, you should be good.

I am going to attempt a grease & conditioner wash & go... Sealing in moisture w/the grease... or maybe I will use oil... idk. No gel though. It's not raining so this may work out better than last month's attempt.
Wash and go.

I totally cheated and used a non-CG product.

I used Paul Mitchell's Skinny Serum. Soo many cones and parabens, but it worked so well...I couldn't stop *sob*

Plus, I have like 3/4 of the bottle left. I can finish it while I contemplate buying Curls In A Bottle.

when will your favs?

Took down my two week old twists, my first attempt at protective styling. The turned out fantastic and lasted the whole two weeks, but my relaxed ends are to straight to hold the pattern for a twist out.

Conditioner WnG & sealed with grease. It was a complete win. Voluminous, soft, fluffy, defined enough but not super defined. Everything I hoped it would be.
