I'm currently sporting a bantu knot out that I have styled with a gold two strand braided headband. I reknotted my hair last night then sprayed it with a mix of spring water and Oyin HHC. I woke up to REALLY soft hair. I need to do this more because it's been so hot and humid here since Saturday.

No Glycerin on Humid Days?
I wet my hair and put in a little gel and some Burt's Bees Avocado Butter on it. I formed the twirls with my fingers and it looked great!.... until I walked out the door into the humid/drizzly air. My hair instantly shrunk up into a huge frizzball!
EEK!!! What happened!!?
I'm guessing maybe it was all the glycerin in the BB Avocado Butter? The clouds took one look at my hair and said, "OOOH!! Let's go float and settle onto that woman's head!"
I don't usually have a problem with this stuff, but I guess I'll have to try something else on foggy or rainy mornings (besides the usual puff pony)...

Congrats!! The answer to shrinkage seems to be mainly time & length retention. Stretched styles can help. NaturallyNike started an awesome thread with beautiful photos and instructions...
How to get 5-7 day hair! (twist/braid outs) pics included

Cowashed with the usual, VO5 Moisture Milks, then spritzed Infusium 23 Frizzologie Leave-in Treatment and massaged in. Applied Right On Curl Activator Gel and Ecostyler Clear. Scrunched in some Hairveda CoCoase Shikakai Oil .Air dried. Can't believe how moisturized and soft my hair is today. Could this be my new routine?

thanks PP.
I don't have the patience to do a full head of twists and I'm still trying to learn how to cornrow so I can do braid outs. Until I master one of the two I'll just stick to buns.

(spam is obnoxious, but spam with photos is the devil)
Put a couple squirts of Qhemet Castor and Moringa oil in hair last night (hair was very soft)
Today co-washed with Renpure moisturizing shampoo, conditioned, detangled and left in EO Rose Chamomile. Scrunched in a few more squirts of that Castor Moringa over it. Smoothed a bit of Lustrasilk Cholesteral on ends. After blotting excess moisture with Curls Like Us cloth, gelled with Trader Joe's Aloe Vera mixed with Devacurl Angel. Air drying.

I struggling between getting over-moisturized flat hair and dry, voluminous hair but this combo maybe the winner. I get shine, moisutre, & volume.
Washed with Come Clean
Conditioned with CJ BeautiCurls
Left in Elucence mixed with JBCO
KCCC

ITU!
I can do twists if i'm watching a film but I get really burnt out as my head is big and i have a lot of hairs (density). I did twists recently but did not like the twist out at all. I'm becoming a plait and braid-out stretch addict. i neeeeedz my stretch.
It's too dense and short to bun for now. If I could, I think I would!

Lol, the grass is always greener on the other side. I tried to watch a movie and twist at the same time but I got too caught up in the movie to finish twisting :sad8

Pre-pooed with AOWC and Auromere Pre-Shammpoo Conditioner, shampooed with Dr. Woods Shea Vision Black Soap, conditioned with Yes To Tomatoes (that stuff really does volumize...my fro's have been huge), added KCKT and castor oil, then KCCC. SOTC with Jane Carter Solution Nourishing Hair Cream (I am trying to use it up). Having a good hair day.

Detox with Anita grant rhassoul square, sprinkled fenugreek over it then hot coconut milk. Applied and left on my hair for hour and a half. Rinsed out, then cowashed with Herbal Essences Hydralicious. Added just my homemade flaxseed gel. Airydrying now. Seeing if the castor oil and jojoba oil I beat in the FSG when I made it will let me get away with not using a leave in.

Rearranged braidout into two flat twists in back (like faux french braids) w/ bangs. a bit 'young' but oh well.
Made a new batch of Fox's Shea Butter Conditioning Creme
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...ead.php?t=4586
Rinsed and moisturized hair of all resident curly & wavies. There was actually minimal clowning. I think they found the making of the FSBCC fascinating in an Alton Brown Good Eats sorta way.

1st ever successful braidout!
So Happy!
I have successful done a braidout, after plenty of failed attempts. I think I was making the braids way to small (I was doing something like 30+) and whenever I took them out it turned into a big fuzz ball.
This time I did 10 big 'doo doo braids' as my mom likes to call them and unraveled and separated them in the morning! I LOVE IT!!!
I'm working on day 4 hair and I still have definition! YAY....
IDK why the pic came out so dark, but i'm at work so i'm not even going to attempt to take another! lol

Deep conditioning with the last of my Africa's Best Organics Olive Oil (mixed with a bit of actual EVOO)
It was my favorite but don't think I'll repurchase... I like the Biolage Matrix Ultra Hydrating Balm much better.
