Default 4A Hair? Maybe

Hey all,

So I consulted the 3C's and now i'm consulting the 4A's, please take a look at the pics in the below link and let me know if my hair texture appears to be a 4A. I'm just trying to get an idea so I know what kind of products I should try.

Thanks!
Naya

I would say 4a, but to be honest 4a's and 3c's pretty much use the same products so the difference is not that great.

I agree that you may be a 4a, but you can get great ideas all over this site no matter what your hair type! So don't limit your knowledge

good luck!

Thanks for the help! Also, the IC Fantasia Gel, are you using that for definition? I've seen a lot of people talk about this product.

Yes, it looks like 4A and your hair resembles mines but I won't know for sure until I BC.

Cool, i'm going to have to try that out then. I'm still trying to find something that I like for definition as well as something I like for a deep conditioner. I've been using Kinky Curly curl pomade for definition, it's okay but i'm thinking there has to be something better out there.

Thanks for the advice!

I have the IC gel, but I don't care for some of the flakiness that occurs. Do you mix it with something else?

I use the gel for twists and twist outs. I put a moisturizer on my hair first.. then the gel on each twist as I am doing them.... and I never get any flakes.. you have to be careful when mixing gels with other products cause sometimes you can get flakes and goo balls (for example- Never mix IC gel with Cantu-leave in)... I like a hair milk or buttery cream to put on first under the gel to keep the moisture.. My hair comes out shiny and not crunchy at all -- I get a lot of compliments with this method..

I'll also mention that my twistouts look best after using the Giovanni 50/50 poo... I love that stuff--it gets the buildup out of your hair w/out stripping it..

So if ur getting flakes it could be a combo of buildup (meaning u may need to use a clarifying poo and start with fresh hair) OR could be too much of another product reacting badly with the gel.. Good luck :-)
