Bentonite Clay Recipes

I just bought a container of Aztec Bentonite Clay, and I'd like to use it but I'm pretty clueless, does any one have any suggestions(recipes) on a good way to use it?

Onyxcabelo,

I am yet to use it on my hair. I have used it on my face and drank it as a colon detox (this one however is a differnet kind of Bclay). I believe though that the simplest reciepe is to mix with water and add to hair and let sit for about 30 mins. Here is a link to a previous Bclay thread Bentonite Clay

Every time I use it I just follow the directions on the container...plain water.

I have some, and I've tried to use it twice... but both times it was really lumpy! That was a couple months ago and I gave up on it. I can't seem to mix it smoothly, is there a trick to it?

I tried the Bentonite Clay today and it worked fine. My hair did feel soft afterwards, but a bit frizzier than normal. I used marshmallow root with the clay.

I did a tablespoon of clay, and then marshmallow root "tea" to wet the clay. It was lumpy too, but I just used my finger to press the lumps out, and just added more tea until all the lumps were out. I then just plastered it on - I was too lazy to do it section by section. I put a plastic bag on my head and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Then I rinsed. I didn't deep condition afterwards, maybe that's why my hair was a little frizzier than normal. I poured the left over marshmallow tea on my hair after rinsing out the clay, then rinsed again and styled.

All in all it was a nice experience. I will definitely do it again vs using the stronger clarifying shampoo I was using.

i finally got around to buying and trying bentonite clay. i added chamomile tea water to my mixture. it was very lumpy, but that was fine...or was it?

my hair felt like a dream when i rinsed out the clay 20 minutes later. by a dream, i mean that my waves were deep and my hair was soft and heavy. but my hair was also dry...think that henna feeling. by the time i co-washed (only once since i rinsed for a loOong time) and DT (because my hair felt like straw) those deep waves were gone and there was some frizz.

i researched recipes and some people used just water, so either that doesn't work for my hair or the lumpy mixture was too drying. next time i'm adding water, honey, and some oils to moisturize my hair in the process.

so funny that this thread pops up. I got some bclay from a curly and I have yet to use it. I'm hoping it gives me great results.....maybe some defining. If SBB still has her recipes, I will check them out. I will probably do this tomorrow or maybe tonight.

I hennaed on Tues, then I washed again on Weds. I kind of feel like its too soon to do another 'treatment', what do you guys think?

I have some of this clay also and have never used it. I thought I could use it as a DT not a cleanser. But I think when I do try it I'll mix mine with coconut milk and honey.
So I've had a bad hair weekend, my hair just seems to have some type of build up maybe, its not plopping and it's very stiff like. I haven't had one of these days in a while so I decided no time like the present to do the bentonite clay. I am going to keep it simple. I loved the way my rosemary/sage rinse had my hair feeling so I'm going to use that as my 'water' and add a couple drops of evoo and the bclay. I heard someone say that the bclay swells up so I would only need about a TBS of it. I think I'm going to run some acv through my hair first though.
