I just figured out a way to make mine look thicker....as in within the last week or so. I don't smooth in my product(shea butter pomade) with a boar brush before twisting anymore. Just emulsify and then smooth in using only my hands. No combs no nothing.

I've actually only finger detangled two times since I wore my hair straight. Only took me some years to REALLY figure out my optimal twisting routine. LOL!

All you ladies have some GORGEOUS hair. My hair is currently in kinky twists and I wanna go yank them out right now and go play and experiment in my locks!

Since I can't do that, I will just try and contribute a couple of pics....

freshly washed, wet no product

good ol' bun

twist out frohawk

sorry I dont know how to size these bad boys!

Shawnette, your hair is so pretty and healthy looking. Your curl/texture looks similar to mine. Do you have any pics of it soaking wet? Just curious...

I LOVE your braids!!

I did do your method on Sunday sort of. I emulsified and put in my hair, but then I brushed each section with the denman. They were definitely bigger than normal. So I'll have to try it without brushing and see if I can get them even bigger. Sad thing is right now I get only 20 twists about the size of yours. Do you do yours on wet or dry hair? I'm thinking I could get them bigger on maybe air dry poofy hair and then twist. I'll try that this week-end.

Lots of gorgeous heads.. I can't pick one favorite.

My staples: Mane n Tail (cowash), Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine (leave in condish), Grapeseed oil or shea butter (sealing), Organic Root Stimulator Elasticitea (leave-in condish & light hold)
Here is my hair after the big chop. It seems that the texture of my hair isn't as bad now as it was when i first chopped it off. It's really growing!! I feel the avocado pudding that i make is making a difference!!

I've always done my hair on wet/damp hair, but doing it on dry, unbrushed hair would definitely give me plumper twists. You should definitely try it w/o the denman and see what happens!

I just use Natural Oasis Herbal Styling Oil(i think that's what it's called), and sometimes Kemi-Oyl shea butter pomade. That's it. No super expensive flat-iron or technique. And I used sponge rollers in that pic!

Less products used(especially products with water), the better.

I use Cantu Shea Butter leave in first, and then Kemi Oyl Shea Butter pomade. I could make it myself since I have like a 5 lb block of shea, but they add essential oils and stuff in theirs that makes it work a little differently.
