Best Hair Scissors

Hi Everyone,

I don't normally trim my own ends because I used to worry about cutting too much. Now I think I'm ready to give it a try but every time I go into Sally's I'm never really sure what to get. The hair scissors all look about the same but the prices range from $10-$60. Yikes!!

Can someone tell me what I should be looking for in hair scissors and what I should stay away from?

And if this thread has been posted elsewhere please let me know where to find it.

Thanks!!

Quite honestly I don't even know but I've been wondering the same thing for a while now. When I clip my straggly ends I just use the Goody Clippers I find at Sallys Beauty Supply. Its on $6.99 and it gets the job done. I'm not a proffessional and I'm not doing a real cut so I figure as long as the scissors are sharp and are meant for barbering it'll be alright.

If you're not a professional you don't need $60 scissors! I've been using general hair scissors (nothing fancy) that my friend got for around $10.

Not that I've been stealing her scissors.

Okay so I guess I will be buying $10-$12 scissors. Do hair scissors need to be changed often? And is there anything I should watch out for?

Look for things labeled "shears" or "barber scissors" instead of "scissors." Regular scissors aren't sharp enough to get clean lines. I had tons of split ends because I used regular scissors for half of my bc and shears for the other.
